Sen. Jay Rockefeller a Target?
The American Thinker ^ | Clarice Feldman

Posted on 01/10/2006 5:21:52 AM PST by jackv

Macsmind is reporting that Sen. Rockefeller may be the target of investigators examining the leak of classified information on the NSA surveillance program.

I’m trying to confirm this information, but several sources are telling me today that some investigators working on the NSA leak probe believe that Senator Jay Rockefeller may have been a little more than “concerned” about NSA. In fact, he may just be the leaker of the program to the NY Times, and is now being considered a “significant person of interest” in the probe.

I am sure of it.

I have a feeling that someone real big in DC will burn over these leaks.

Given what Senator Rockefeller said in the past about using intelligence information for political gain in that leaked memo, this is totally no surprise.

Think so? Since the Barrett Report has still not been released and Able Danger Probe is at a standstill, don't count on this one going too far either. However, I agree to be pleasantly surprised.

BWa-hahahahah. Wouldn't it be poetic justice if the press and the Dems were the only ones to actually go to jail over all these leaks?

This is what we should be investigating instead of the ridiculous (and politically motivated) Abramoff thing.

They'd be silly not to consider him.

But let's be honest, in the worst case, he'll get the Leahy treatment.

Yeah, but he'll just play the martyr, insisting that he acted with the "noblest of motives" to expose the "evil machinations of the Bush Administration" and the MSM will eat it up.

US Senators are immune from prosecution in these times - and damn near immune from criticism. ;)

Even if jail isn't in the cards, simultaneously leaking and decrying the leaks is politically damaging.

Assuming the surveilance is outside of FISA, but nontheless suitably circumscribed and overseen (in secret), it's a losing proposition to be opposed to it.

We can't let them continue to get away with this kind of thing! It is time to set a precedent a charge a Senator for leaking classified information which damages national security.

If there is no actual punishment for breaking the law, the law continues to be broken and at an accelerating pace.

If you want an example, how much classified information has Rockerfeller leaked in the last few years and, since he has gotten away with it, is he getting more bold? He is even leaking war plans now just to make Bush look bad.

"...and Able Danger Probe is at a standstill, don't count on this one going too far either."

The Able Danger thing is stopped because there are people in the Executive and Legislative branches involved.

In my estimation, the career types at the Pentagon want to protect themselves, so they are working under the table deals with the US Senate.

I think that there are plenty of GOPers in the US Senate who would love to have the opportunity to sink Rockefeller.

No matter how we'd like to dress it up, it would amount to being a great campaign strategy for the Senate Republicans.

The question becomes, "Who do you trust with national security, us or them".

The sheeple need to constantly be reminded that national security is our most important issue.

He went to the Middle East and warned them that an invasion was imminent, and now he may be the leaker on the NSA Program. Leaky Leahy must be proud even if it's destroying our country. This is out and out treason.

"I have a feeling that someone real big in DC will burn over these leaks."

Why would you think that? I cannot think of a Democrat that has paid ANY price for leaking classified information. Surly you do not think the Republican "leadership" will do anything, do you? Especially now with their bribery and graft problems?
Nope, as usual Rockefeller skates and America loses.
