yeah but that extra 2 minutes ended the 30 minutes plus 2....he carried o for another 17min and 34 seconds....why do=oes he get additional time past the 2 minutes?

The time was added when the swimmer had only used about 10 minutes of his 30 so he was just using his time left plus the 2 minutes.
