Iran is probably looking at the UN saying "Sadaam defied you for twelve years WITHOUT nukes. We only need two or three more years and we will have nukes. Then we can do whatever we want.No.
Iran should consider the quality of what was Saddam's nuclear program when he was sent to a spider whole.

"I think Israel will not disappoint them and the only reason they haven't done so before now is some strong jaw-boning by Bush. It may not work with the new guy."
No, Israel will not do it because Europeans are weenies and will support the Arabs in a war against Israel. Israel cannot win a war against the Arab nations when Europe is supporting them with material and money. Even with American support.
Plus any war between Israel and Iran will create an explosion in Iraq with the Shiites.

...because Europeans are weenies...This is one of the reasons they will do it and get away with it. Europe has long ago lost any bite it had.

A friend of mine who just left the military after 6 years told me that it was common knowledge inside the ranks that Iran is the most dangerous nation on earth, and that military action might be necessary to eliminate their nuclear ambitions.

" I think they are trying to provoke Israel to bomb the facility....... " Well, that would require hitting the facilitieeeesszzz as in "plural". Estimates are that the Iranian program is spread out over as many as 80 sites.

Non-sense. The US supplies more military equipment to Arab countries that does any European country. Look how many European nations are in NATO. What NATO nation is going to support any Arab nation in a war with Israel?

I think if Israel waits much longer, they could be in dire danger. The world knows that Iran wants to eliminate Israel and no matter how they may scream and holler about an attack on Iran, they know it would be the interest of self preservation.
Waiting on a resolution from the (Security) Council to enact sanctions against Iran could drag on for years, in the interim they develop nuclear compacity, and the whole middle east goes into turmoil including the new Democracy of Iraq.
There is no other option but a defensive strike, IMO.
