NFL Opens Stones Halftime Show To Fans Over 45

POSTED: 10:16 am EST January 9, 2006
UPDATED: 10:28 am EST January 9, 2006

DETROIT -- The NFL is letting people over 45 years old decide for themselves whether they're up for the physical challenges of a Rolling Stones halftime show.

The NFL originally had asked for people ages 18 to 45 to be part of the Super Bowl halftime show featuring the Rolling Stones in Detroit on Feb. 5.

The league did not want anyone older than 45 because volunteers will be on their feet a long time.

The Rolling Stones themselves are in their 50s and 60s.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said they wanted to open up the call for volunteers after hearing from some older Stones fans.

I like much of the Stones' music, but their musical influences never got much limelight or notice. Perhaps if these bluesmen had been from middle-class families, or had the luxury of discarding a college education, or had they looked good in skin tight leather jeans, or been good merchandisers, or made provocative statements instead of just playing music, it might have been different.

Hell look at Jack La Lane pushing 90!

Baby Boomers have changed the social climate since they have been born and we are doing it again only in a Healthy Way unlike the lifestyle of our parents.

On tv, I'm sure you're right, but I saw the Stones live (albeit 10 years ago) in Ohio State's horseshoe and the show was fantastic.

I'm from Michigan.

Anyone so decrepit that they can't walk on and off the field under their own power has no business visiting Detroit at all.

Its a city where you need to know how to run.

While you're at it search online for an MP3 of Claudine, which wasn't included on Some Girls because of threats from Claudine's lawyers:
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail (again)
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine

Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail (again)
She only does it at weekends
Claudine
Oh, Claudine

Now only Spider knows for sure
But he ain't talkin' about it any more
Is he, Claudine?

There's blood in the chalet
And blood in the snow
(She)Washed her hands of the whole damn show
The best thing you could do, Claudine

Shot him once right through the head
Shot him twice right through the chest
The judge says (ruled) it was an accident
Claudine
Accidents will happen
(In the best homes)

And Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine
