Since we have recently had the Dover trial, perhaps some on both sides will appreciate some great photos of the first "Monkey Trial", including some of the primary actors.

Good historical treatment of the Scopes trial and worth contemplating in light of the recent Dover debacle.

The evolution fraternity is trying to cast the Dover case as "Scopes 2." Nice try. Won't work.

Recent Dover debacle? Nice spin.

Too bad it is not factually based. Must be a faith-based claim...kind of like ID.

A good release from the foaming on the usual Crevo thread. Both sides should be interested.

BTW in the same issue there is a story "Mammoth Findings - Asian Elephant is Closest Living Kin" for subscribers only. Mitochondrial DNA evidence form frozen mammoths. Mammoths and Asian elephants appear to have a common ancestor 440,000 years ago.

But no pictures of as Asian elephant giving birth to a mammoth!

Did you leave out the "i" or the "p"?

It's either a debacle or a great victory depending on where you are standing, but all Crevoids should find this interesting.

Nothing has changed in 80 years with regard to the fundamental conflict.

For the former members of the school board, I'd say it came damn close to a debacle.

Lost the court case.
Lost their positions on the school board.
Lost their credibility.

Hey, what's better, Molecular Microbiology or BMC Microbiology?

And, I saw these photos somewhere earlier. I like time capsule stuff like this.

What's the deal with the first photo (Darrow interrogating Bryan)...
I never heard that some of the proceedings were done in the out-of-doors.
(I guess I got used to the images of all those folks fanning themselves in
the court room in "Inherit The Wind".)

"Inherit the Wind" was great dramatics for the stage, but woefully non-historical. Bryan conducted himself quietly and calmly throughout (perhaps because Darrow was trying to provoke him).
Bryan and Darrow both agreed to take the stand to defend the bible and evolution, respectively. After Darrow had his take at Bryan, Darrow reneged on his part of the agreement and wouldn't let Bryan cross-examine him on evolution.
