" I don't understand how any Jewish or Christian person - liberal or conservative - cannot love Israel "

I am finding more and more people who have no trouble at all voicing hatred for Jews and of course Israel. Just this last weekend I got into a number of arguments with people about the Middle east / WOT. Within 10 minutes I asked them flat out if they hated Jews and the answer was, without pause, yes. All the ills of the world and 911 caused by our relationship with Jews these bastards will tell you.
It sickens and angers me to no end.

Could you give us a bit more insight as to who those people are?

Sure,
Two of them were about 25 years old, two Americans. Both college educated and liberal. Both flat out stated they hated Jews, Catholics and 911 would never have happened if the Americans were not allied with Israel etc, etc. All of this said with loud voices with no regard to whomever might have heard them.
Another from two weeks ago is an American liberal about 70 years old who very seriously told me how the Jews were the most filthy people in the world. They had no regard for personal hygiene. Oh, and by the way all of us Catholics were brainwashed.
Another from this weekend mid 40s American and conservative when asked why people hate Jews went on to relate every single horrible stereotype you can imagine. He was pro Israel however contradictory that is.
Another from a month ago was a Jewish leftist who decided to interrupt my argument with another Liberal to tell me how wrong Israel is blah, blah, blah.
so - there you have it.

Mia - bet everyone, every so often, gets the exact feeling I am experiencing just now, that feeling that wells up in ya when you want to express to someone how totally amazed you are by something they have done, and ya want tell this person how much you appreciate their effort but know your words will fall short.

Mia-this thread is full of truths that upset while at the same time settle. Truth can hurt and reassure at the same time...taking the sur out of surreal.

Senator Patrick Moynihan proffered one of the more incisive operant definitions of clintonism -- "defining deviancy down."

This brought back of flood of memories---chilling. Poor Pat. What a broken hearted old Senator...forced into a corner by a genuinely creepy aging hippie. When Pat spoke of acts which define deviancy down...was he speaking directly of the distruction wrought by the klintons... or was it a remark in general regarding the political culture of the day? Was he directly implicating the klintons over their politics of personal destruction which became 'de rigueur' under their reign of terror against traditional values?

I felt deeply that retiring Moynihan was distraught over that witch's move into his backyard.

Horrifying.

Legacy building upon those deceased...like Golda as Speilberg's vehicle...which includes distorting the dead's previous vision or deeds or words...is sick. On every level.

Reminds me of how Teh-raze-ah Heinz Kerry betrayed her late husband who left her so well placed in life. He would have FLIPPED if he knew of her financial contributions to the Tides Foundation....sick stuff. Very sick. She must have tried to buy her way into the misled, aging hippie population who equate vacuous liberal thought with elitism, with sophistication, with fun and games and endless invites to the right parties, the 'in' crowd as it were.

Dangerous people. As you pointed out. People unacquainted with the real work of keeping a democracy alive. People unable to shed the sweet visions of a youthful mind yearning for world peace for the realistic vision of a mature adult or one who understands that freedom is never, ever free. Ever. Not until there is real world peace, for certain.

But back to Golda, Speilberg's sad abuse of Golda and billary's sucking off of reticent moynihan teat...I agree with Freeper ScubieNuc...so will repeat this FReeper's post...

"Posthumous misappropriation is a preferred tactic of the abject coward."

You have an incredible way with words. Awesome!

I agree with ya, Scub.

And in my world, both klintons fall directly under the coward column.

(And Mia....will freepmail ya my letter to Suzanne Daley, national news editor-NYT {natnews@NYTimes.com}...cannot reach my mail from my location...but will as soon as I return home. )

That last post of mine to you was not very elegantly written.

I meant that the people you were describing had attitudes that, to me anyway, were so hard to understand.

That you are sickened and angered is very easy to understand.

My New York Times Review of Munich
(please FReep)

CLOSE ENCOUNTER OF THE WORST KIND

January 9, 2006

Reviewer: miat22 (Mia T)

... to borrow a phrase, perversely, from a Spielberg flick about benign intelligence.

Munich, with its false premises, phony pieties and outright lies -- Spielberg fantasy wrapped in sober documentary -- is a verisimilitudinous contrivance that is pernicious, especially now, especially here, especially if we understand Spielberg's real motivation.

Truth matters not at all to Spielberg, and courage matters even less. To advance his fallacious argument, he has Golda Meir speak words she never said, never would have said and, obviously, cannot now disavow. Posthumous misappropriation is a preferred tactic of the abject coward.

Munich is less about Meir avenging the Munich massacre than it is about Bush waging the War on Terror. The historical (Munich) allusion is key to understanding Spielberg.

The core of his anti-war argument: By fighting back, we become our enemy. Ironically, with Munich, the same can now be said of Spielberg.

Is Spielberg humanizing the terrorist really any different from Riefenstahl humanizing Hitler? If anything, Spielberg is more contemptible. Whereas Riefenstahl symbolizes the naïve actress and director who is induced to deal with devils, Spielberg is self-actuated and aware.

Hollywood IS DreamWorks, fantastical and unthinking and solipsistic by definition.

To mitigate its danger, people capable of critical thinking must take on Hollywood... and must do so in Hollywood venues.

The printed word, sad to say, no longer carries the day.
