LISTEN TO ANDREW: WILKOW on WABC

Sunday, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. EST

THE NEXT GENERATION OF GREAT TALK RADIO

Andrew Wilkow is the newest and youngest member of the WABC air staff. Yes, he's in his very early 30's, but we don't want to reveal his real age because we don't want to come back and update this bio every year. He does speak a little bit of a different language than your typical WABC talk show host, but we think that's a good thing.

Clinton fundraiser to pay fine
New York Daily News

WASHINGTON - One of Sen. Hillary Clinton's fundraising committees will admit it failed to disclose $722,000 in contributions from a felon and pay a $35,000 fine, according to a settlement released Thursday.

The deal stems from a high-powered Los Angeles fundraiser the New York Democrat held Aug. 12, 2000. The event also has sparked a failed federal prosecution of a campaign official and a lawsuit by the contributor, three-time convict and entrepreneur Peter Paul.

Paul, then the head of Stan Lee Media, says he bankrolled the event for New York Senate 2000 - a joint committee of Clinton's, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and New York state Democrats - all while trying unsuccessfully to get Bill Clinton to work for his company.

He says he paid $2 million to bring the likes of Cher, Michael Bolton and Diana Ross to the glittering gala and to underwrite two other fundraisers.

In the settlement, the Federal Election Commission says it found "probable cause" that the committee and treasurer Andrew Grossman did not disclose $721,895 in contributions for the gala, which the FEC found to cost $1.24 million.

Among the expenses left out were $400,000 for a concert, $92,000 to bring the stars to the event and $109,000 for food and drinks.

A lawyer for the New York Senate 2000 committee said the settlement exonerates Clinton and her own campaign committee.

"The rather modest civil penalty speaks volumes about this matter," said the lawyer, Marc Elias.

Clinton's former fundraising chief, David Rosen, was acquitted last spring of felony charges for hiding the $720,000. But Paul, who has been convicted of fraud charges related to the failure of Stan Lee Media, saw the settlement as vindication.

"After nearly five years, (Grossman) finally accepts responsibility for hiding the largest contribution to Hillary's campaign," said Paul, who now alleges in a lawsuit that the Clintons defrauded him and contributed to the failure of his company.

Good afternoon all... I'm late to the thread but listened to most of Andrew's show. I caught the FR mention in the car.

re the Abramoff $$ give-backs-- I heard a small bit of an interview this morning on local ABC tv with Menendez, when asked if he knew Abramoff of course he said absolutely not. Yah, sure... so many have his $$ but no one knew him. Unbe-frikkin-leeve-able.

I did this spin last week comparing BDS (for Andrew, Bush Derangement Syndrome) with the memory loss re: Abramoff (or YDKJ, you don't know Jack or Jackamoffs for short).

WHAT ARE YOU FOR: SUCCESS OR FAILURE?

Another vet rises up...

Milblogger Smash confronted anti-war Democrat Rep. Bob Filner in California at one of the many "Out of Iraq" town hall meetings that took place this weekend.

Read about the exchange here.

VIDEO: ANOTHER VET TELLS OFF MURTHA/MORAN

Sgt. Mark Seavey (http://michellemalkin.com/archives/004240.htm)was outnumbered, but not alone at the moonbat townhall hosted by Reps. Jim Moran and John Murtha last week. Near the end of the marathon session, a Vietnam veteran, General Wagner, stepped up to the microphone to deliver a message from the mother of an Iraqi war vet who gave his life for his country and for the mission. After reading a scathing letter addressed to Murtha, Wagner talked about his own experience in Vietnam:

Download the video (.wmv file).
http://media.michellemalkin.com/videos/wagnervideo.wmv

A snippet of Wagner's remarks:

I visit Walter Reed [Army Hospital] and talk to the young soldiers with their legs blown off. I know you do, too. I can't find one in a dozen that don't believe that they are fighting for a noble cause and are fighting to go back. And I think it's a disgrace when members of our Congress --just as they did in 1975 when they sold out the south Vietnamese--are selling out our soldiers today in Iraq!
You will be jumping out of your seat and cheering by the end of the clip. When Rep. Moran answers by delivering Cindy Sheehan-esque platitudes to the wild applause of the left-wing audience, Wagner does the only thing a decent man would do: He stands up and walks out.

General Wagner, wherever you are, thank you and God bless you.

Schumer Says ABA Rating Is “Gold Standard” For Judges, Only If You’re A Liberal (VIDEO)

(Reads:ABA evaluation has been the gold standard by which judicial candidates are judged.)

Funny how Schumer doesn’t apply that standard to Alito, who recently got the highest possible rating from thE ABA (American Bar Association).

But, the hypocrisy doesn’t stop there. Schumer goes on to say that the reason why he has a problem with Alito is because of his “judicial philosphy”:

And that is, their judicial philosophy. They have enormous power in this lifetime appointment to be a Supreme Court Justice. How are they going to use it? Are they going to follow the law or are they going to impose their views on the American people in a very ideological way and judges at the extreme far right, far left, tend to do that.

It seems that you, Mr. Schumer, are doing the exact thing you are complaining about. You are using your power to “impose” your “views on the American people”. However, Schumer’s hypocrisy doesn’t end here. Russert goes after the Senator for voting to confirm Ruth Bader Ginsburg, but not wanting to vote for Alito:

RUSSERT: But here’s the situation, as many people see it, when Ruth Bader Ginsburg was put forward by Bill Clinton, she had been general counsel for the ACLU, Steven Breyer had worked for Ted Kennedy, and yet they were overwhelmingly confirmed because they had competence and temperament, as you say. And even though they had a more liberal, judicial philosophy than many members of the Senate, it was a democratic President who had the right to make that nomination. If in fact Republicans supported them, why shouldn’t Democrats support Alito who has been rated well qualified, the gold standard of the ABA., And whose philosophy may be conservative, but it’s no more conservative than Ginsberg and Breyer were liberal?

Andrew, you wouldn't believe the pain and anxiety the vets are going through still and has been through all the more because of their treatment and what they see going on now.

Did you read the article on The American Heart and Lung Association wanting to up cigarettes $2.60 per pack? Not for cancer research but for immigrant health care?

Why is that even remotely a shocker? Hell, two-fifths of my paycheck goes to support free medical care, education and housing for illegal aliens as well as prop up nations that sponsor terrorism.

I don't smoke anymore (quit due to cancer), but it is a folly to believe that only smokers are being saddled with supporting illegal invaders in this nation.
