An Australian woman from Brisbane has been killed in a shark attack at a popular beach near the city.

Ambulance workers said the 21-year-old suffered extensive injuries, losing both arms below the elbow and sustaining deep wounds to her leg.

Police suspect that several sharks carried out the attack, which happened on North Stradbroke Island.

The victim was thought to have been swimming in shallow water with a local church group when she was attacked.

Friends carried her from the water and she was quickly flown to hospital by helicopter.

Gang of sharks' kills Australian

Not unlike what the Dems. and the lamestream media did to Tom DeLay.

The old established/liberal/socialist media is America's most ruthless, relentless, and destructive enemy.

What a tragedy! What insanity has lead us to believe a habitable area for sharks is preferable to the safety of our women and children? There's got to be a way to control the local population of sharks. They have the brain the size of a peanut, they should not be dictating terms. It's like Democrats in the senate...it just doesn't make sense.

What concerns me is that we keep hearing more and more reports of people being attacked in shallow water. Only recently one person was bit by a shark in water that was little more than ankle deep.

Simple really, don't go in the water, and they don't come
on land.

Funny, the outrage about that, huh? I will say though, out of all the ways to go, that has to be one of the worst.

In Australia certain beaches are have nets guarding them. They are usually safe. You cannot do much surfing though if you are into that. Of course there is also the pool if you really want to swim. You also do not go in the water during box jellyfish season.

Excuse me, if this sounds gross. Since she may have been attacked by a group of sharks, that can smell blood for long distances, uh, do you think it may have been her "time of the month"?

Just an old guy here.

Now, Pat, was this death
God's comment on the woman,
or the local church?

That's a good question. I saw the article not too long ago, and was shocked. Maybe the person reporting it had the depth wrong, but I have seen several recently where sharks have attacked in very shallow water. Here is one in knee deep water.

That would have to be an extremely little shark, with a very big mouth.
