A king, or the KING OF KINGS? Huge difference.
Surely this is the image of a despot, and not almighty divinity. And surely, there must be clear differentiation between the latter and the former for the two to indeed be different.
Agnosic or atheist. Figures.
This is a ch__ch. What's missing?
Yep -- and far left, as well.
Bravo!
It is really pretty simple.
God's chosen people are now Christians, as Christians make up His people and are the only ones who can be saved. Do you as a Christian believe that Jews who do not come to Christ will be saved? Do you really believe that a "true Chosen person" can't make it to Heaven?
I don't deny that Jews will have the opportunity to be a part of a kingdom on Earth after the Rapture, as per Revelation.
That is Replacement Theology, pure and simple. You cannot, being an in-grafted branch, boast against the root.
This is a ch__ch. What's missing?
Praise God that He has blessed me that through me others might possibly be blessed. Thank you for your kind post. Praise God!
Nicely said.
"Isn't it incongruous with belief in one universal almighty all-encompassing divinity to contend that favoritism from such is extended to a particular group?"
I don't think so. Unless you reject a good deal of Jewish Biblical history. And demand that an all-encompassing God reside solely within human logic.
As for Christianity, I don't see "having a lesser status" as being an issue. Christ granted a relationship with God to all peoples, and in that sense, the terms "greater" and "lesser" really have no meaning to me as a Christian, only that one has a relationship. In a sense, Christianity is the understanding that the idea of chosen people now encompasses all people of humanity, not just the descendents of Abraham, as it goes. Further, as a Christian, I am freed from the strictures of the law--a freedom a Jewish person does not have.
I think you are aware of where the true path is and I pray that you get there more quickly than I did.
God is bigger than any tradition, let alone our fragile vessels. The case for Replacement Theology simply can not be made via the Holy Bible.
The insidious false teaching of Replacement Theology runs a straight line to anti-Semitism, and if you study it out, horrible results such as the Holocaust.
God bless you ConservativeMind. You have the opportunity to study out the truth presented to you. Paradigms only need shift when the original one is flawed; incomplete.
Shalom
Well said, and most concisely!
My pastor tonight noted that Christ did not come to destroy the law (OT), but to fulfill it!
"Agnostic or atheist. Figures."
And a proselytising one, at that.
God has also fulfilled his promise and kept the Jewish people alive while all the nations of the world were destroyed completely.
Look what happen to them when Moses came down from the mountain and found many of them worshipping the Golden Calf.
God didn't kill any Jews for the sin of the golden calf.
Solomon failed and were destroyed and the people where carried away as slaves to Babylon
Solomon was possibly the wisest and greatest King of Israel. His reign was the most peaceful and successful.
The Jewish people had several Disporas before the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70 AD.
The holy temple was distroyed two times, not several.
LOL....that does cover it all doesn't it.
The Apostle Paul was a Christian.
The Apostle Luke was a Christian.
Lord Shaftesbury was a Zionist before any Jew was. One of the most devout of the important 19th century English evangelicals.
Sounds like a guy who will denounce Jesus and convert to Judaism or become a Talmud Noahide.
Going by "Romans" I conclude Paul did not accept this idea. He expected HIS people to come to Christ.
Have an abundantly, pressed down, overthetop-blessed weekend.
I believe I've presented all that I have to offer to this thread for this evening.
Praise God for His mercy, grace, long-suffering and amazing love and that all with eyes to see would receive it!

Revelation 1
v1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified [it] by his angel unto his servant John:
v2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
v3 Blessed [is] he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time [is] at hand.
v4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace [be] unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
v5 And from Jesus Christ, [who is] the faithful witness, [and] the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
v6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him [be] glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
v7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they [also] which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
v8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
