Piccola Out of Gubernatorial Race PoliticsPA has just learned that State Senator Jeffrey Piccola has officially withdrawn from the race for the GOP Gubernatorial nomination.
In a speech, Piccola said this campaign was never about him, but his ideas which he feels have been advanced. Piccola went on to criticize Rendell for his failed leadership. Piccola said while he enjoyed the race and advancing his agenda, it had become apparent that the resources would not be there to continue.
Don't expect a Swann...........dive
How many Democrat African-Americans run for governor?
There will be enormous pressure on both parties to have a black on the 2008 ticket.
We don"t dislike the Steelers at all. As a matter of fact, the Eagles and Steelers teamed up during WW2 as the Steagles. Go Swanny.
*ping*
Piccola out in PA Gov's race. Now if we can persuade Scranton to drop out or run for something else...

Since the Steelers and Eagles only play each other every fourth year (it used to be three), the modern Eagle fan (post 1970) doesn't have much reason to hate the Steelers. Geographically, the Redskins, Ravens, Giants, Jets and even the Patriots are closer (Gillette Stadium is about a nine mile shorter drive from Lincoln Field than is Heinz Field). And since Eagles fans main passion (after loving their team) is beating the Cowboys, I suspect that they'd look favorably upon a Steeler who helped deny the Cowboys two Super Bowls.
Still, Ed Rendell has cultivated Eagles fans for years as a ticketholder and as a frequent guest on the local sports radio WIP 610 AM. It's one reason a Philly Democratic mayor could get so many white male suburban votes in his race for governor. WIP pretty much gave him hours of free ad time by the lovefest from the hosts.
This is not a surprise. Many have been expecting this for a while.
I saw Gov. Rendell today at the PA Farm Show. Having moved here from a very red state, I was very impressed with the respect shown the flag and state police. Gov. Rendell gave credit several times to Governor Ridge during his speech for several initiatives (Green PA or something similar).
You meant to say three. Jim Panyard is running for governor as a GOP candidate, too. He's the real conservative candidate, not a "moderate" like Swann or Scranton. Scranton has too much baggage from the past and Swann has Ridge behind him. Swann is getting a lot of support from state committee people in Lancaster County, probably because he's trying to sound pro-life. You can still vote your conscience for Panyard but Swann looks like the primary winner to me.
Rendell is not called "Fast Eddie" for nothin'...he's slippery alright, and is everybody's friend when he gives that Joker smile...while he picks your pocket.
Actually I would vote for a potted plant before I'd vote for Fast Eddie Spendell. Among his many sins, I will never forgive how that rat b*st*rd tried to disenfranchise our military vote.
I will do a search on Rendell here on FR. I guess I need to learn a lot about PA politics.
Scranton won't drop out, but I think Piccola dropping out helps Swann. Swann is now the only conservative in the race.
The Gaming Act boondoggle, increased income tax, attempting to disenfranchise the military vote (thank God for Sean Hannity), the abominable Act 72 and now "Son of Act 72", his mentally unstable Lt. Governor who crashes military funerals, the illegal legislative pay grab, an 18% spending increase over his past 3 budgets....just a slice of life under Fats Fast Eddie Spendell.
If you want to get up to speed quickly , some resources are WHP580 AM talk radio (Harrisburg)- The Bob Durgin show from 3-6 pm, The Commonwealth Foundation, Grassroots PA , PA Club for Growth , and Young Conservatives of PA
Apparently, Swann revealed himself on Sean Hannity to be a Pub since 1978 and confessed to being pro-life.
He has my vote although it wouldn't take a lot to pick "other" in a race with Scranton.
