RADE (AP)--Serbian President Boris Tadic said in an interview published Friday that he will never accept independence for Kosovo.
"As far as I am concerned, I will never sign any decision granting independence to Kosovo," Tadic told Glas daily.
Kosovo is formally part of Serbia, although the province has been an international protectorate since 1999, when a NATO bombing campaign halted Belgrade's crackdown against ethnic Albanian rebels.
Talks to determine Kosovo's future status are expected to start later this year under mediation by the United Nations. Kosovo's ethnic Albanians are seeking independence, but Belgrade officials want to keep the region within Serbia's borders.
Resolving the issue is considered crucial for stability in the Balkans, a region still recovering from the wars of the 1990s.
Tadic said the solution for Kosovo should be the result of a compromise. He added that the Belgrade delegation at the negotiations will seek to defend " Serbia's national interests."
"We will use all political and diplomatic means to defend them," Tadic was quoted as saying.
Thursday, the Serb negotiating team agreed on its platform for the talks, but revealed no details publicly.
Also Thursday, the leader of Serbia's Orthodox Church, Patriarch Pavle, called for a solution that would be acceptable to both sides.
The Serbs view Kosovo - the medieval seat of the Serbian state - as the cradle of their history, culture and statehood. Kosovo's ethnic Albanians, who make up a majority of the province's population, insist the region should become independent from Serbia.
Should we give California back to Mexico? Of course not. Should Canada give Quebec back to France? And if England wants to be consistent, they should allow Scotland to become independent if they expect the Serbs to just give up land to ISLAMO-FACIST TERRORIST THUG REFUGEES!
One day, we are going to pay reparations to the Serbs for the outrageous way we deliberately bombed their civilians on behalf of terrorist thugs.
Man, I can understand a lot of things, But if you are in someones country (Mexicans, Albanians) you MUST respect that country! If they didn`t liked Milosevic,- he is gone! But they don`t want Serbia. Too bad for them. Borders are open my friend, you can easely get in, but as much as easely get out.

The Scotland analogy is not a good one as the Scots were there long before Saxon/Norman/English subjegation.
Analogy is good, cause even Scots are natives and English newcommers, England is not giving indipendence to Scotland even Scotland may aswell deserves it, yet they want to give Kosovo "indipendancy" even ALbanians are immigrants on kosovo.
Don't misundertand me. I think Kosovo belongs to the Serbs as the Muslims are the invaders/immigrants to that land. Not so with the Scots who have been in Scotland since the Stone Age.
But UN and EU are so softly ot the Muslims. They just don`t want to get dirty. If UE soldiers should get into real combat like Iraq, OH, NO NOWAR! But, if they should kill Serbian famili like in Bosnia couple of days ago, than they shoot!

I agree with your point about Scottish ancestry. My point was the hypocracy of the Brits. They have no business being 'holier than thou' with the Serbs on behalf of terrorists, if Scotland wishes to be free. Last I heard, the Scots still do want independence.

Kosovo is Serbian, but not even now Serbs don`t want to chase out Albanians, they just want, can you belive it, Albanian immigrants to allow Serb natives to remain on Kosovo as part of Serbia.
Just can you belive that Serbs actualy gave houses to Albanian poor imigrants up untill 1991.? Serbian communist goverment gave abandoned Serb houses to "poor" albanian immigrants and first thing Albanians did when moved-in is to rais Albanian flag and playing Albanian songs on loudspeakers even willage was 100% Serbian?

Look, I know you want to portray the current situation in Bosnia as the worst thing ever since:
1. Clinton (Oh noes!!) started the whole thing off.
2. The targets aren't muslim enough for you.
3. You hate Europe, you want to make it out to be a failure in Bosnia.
Well sorry. Bosnia is being policed and run fine and is well on the way to recovery. Slovenia is already an EU member and Croatia is on the list. Long term, Bosnia and Serbia and Montenegro will be too. Bosnia is an excellent example of nation building carried out by a breadth of NATO members that you can't stomach for all sorts of reasons.
I just hope Iraq turns out as well.
We are not saying that Scotland should get indipendancy, just saying Eouro/British two-face politics is on act.
There is LARGE diference between Scots and Kosovo Albanians
1. Scots are native people
2. Scots are not drug-smuggling-womanraping-church-bruning bastards.
3. Scots love Scotland BUT RESPECT BRITAIN!

I am not saying that there is no pro-independence feeling - people like your relatives.
All I'm saying is that if there were genuine pro-independence feeling across the majority of the people, then the SNP would get more than 20 per cent of the vote.
