Caller Dies On Live Radio Phone-In Show Officials: Heart Attack Likely Responsible
(KUTV) A caller to a British radio phone-in show died while on air, the program's host said Friday as he described his shock.
The regular caller, known only as Terry, had telephoned in to a late-night debate yesterday on Liverpool's Magic FM 1548 station in northwest England when the line suddenly went silent.
Disc jockey Pete Price was so worried that he abandoned his show and sped to the man's house but it was too late.

ohhh
Magic 1548 - FM that cares!
Sad if true.
This "radio show" sound like the one BIG AL Arneson had setup under his stairs the block up from my chidhood home. All the kids from a 5 block radius would listen to bubble-gum music, call in requests, and get '45's on Halloween when he did his "remote" broadcast from his front yard.
If the DJ knew the address, why not call their 911?
"Willy [sic] Kalbacken?"
"Betty Doant."
Sounds like a hoax to me. Radio DJs are always pulling stunts for ratings.
I can't help but consider this a commentary on the British health care system. Why didn't he just call the UK equivalent of 911?

I miss innocent times.
Gives new meaning to being placed on terminal hold when placing a call.
How about "Foaming at the mouth callers at Air America's Hate Bush-aton die on air. Heart attack likely responsible."
When I saw the headline the first thing I thought is a seminar caller got through to rush limbaugh and his head exploded when he realised how silly the liberal philosphy was in the face of rushs facts and figures on conservatism :-)
What would he tell the 911 operator?
A 999 call (which is the British equivalent of the US 911) was made and the ambulance arrived before the DJ did. He went in addition to summoning help, not instead of, because what he was told by the operators lead him to believe they weren't taking him seriously.
Probably when Hannity asked the caller if the caller had read his book.
Incidentally a couple of years ago, the same DJ spent nearly an hour talking to a kid who was threatening suicide before persuading the boy to meet with him and arranging for him to get help.
In France, the number is 666.
It's not a hoax - the police have confirmed this incident (and they have quite a big of egg on their face as they didn't take the original call for help all that seriously - it's not that they rejected it, but it was given a low priority).

Reminded me of (via snopes.com):...
Jerome Rodale (died 5 June 1971)
In a New York Times Magazine interview, this 72-year-old longevity guru announced, "I'm going to live to be 100, unless I'm run down by a sugar-crazed taxi driver." A guest on the Dick Cavett Show the next day, while Cavett was discussing politics with journalist Pete Hamill, Rodale's head dropped to his chest and he was heard to let out what sounded like a snore. "Are we boring you, Mr. Rodale?" asked Cavett. There was no response -- Rodale was dead. The show was never broadcast.
That there seems to be an emergency at the address he was going to go to.
That the line was open and all of a sudden the person stopped talking.
If the line was open still, that is a BIG clue something is wrong.
