Nancy Pelosi in a "Cloud of Corruption"
Capitol Hill Journal ^ | January 6, 2006 | Bob Parks

Posted on 01/06/2006 5:03:16 PM PST by WatchYourself

...“The unreported trip was a week-long 1999 visit to Taiwan, paid for by the Chinese National Association of Industry and Commerce, for "meetings with government, military and business officials," according to a filing Pelosi signed June 30. The flights cost $3,400 each for Pelosi and her husband. The hotel cost was $940. The sponsor, which has picked up trips for leaders of both parties, paid $300 for meals.

“Pelosi said she had provided "a good faith estimate" of the cost of the other two trips, since her "office records for that period do not indicate the costs." In 1998, NBC paid for a $200 trip to New York for a "Meet the Press" appearance, according to the filing. In 1999, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee paid $300 for transportation to Delray Beach, Fla., and $40 for meals for Pelosi to appear at a reception and briefing.”

Whoops.

Nancy's words will come back and bite her, and when they do, she'll spin, she'll point fingers, she may even cry. But seeing how this scandal may touch almost every United States Senator, Pelosi may be lamenting how lousy she'll look wearing orange...

Sadly, this corruption is spread all over D.C.

What, exactly, is "this corruption"? It's a fact that it takes money to run for public office, and after the McCain-Feingold law, there are only a few places to get it - Indian tribes, Unions, and a few other special interest groups. Only the independently wealthy can run without taking money from the people who can give it.

Is a Congress full of billionaires better than what we have now?

I guess being gazillionaires like Mr. and Mrs. Nancy doesn't blunt your appetite for others to pick up the tab.

More evidence Nancy's IQ is about equal to her bust size.

What, exactly, is "this corruption"?

This corruption is all the life long "professional" representatives who drive around in limos, who order the IRS to investigate enemies, who travel on first class junkets to exotic places, who are wined and dined and feted to the point that they think they're bullet proof, they think their alliances are with fat cat lobbyists and they treat the electorate like we're all brain dead.

I think the most valuable benefit this investigation could possibly uncover, would be to nail 100% of those coiffed, puffed up, elitists who think they're above the rest of us!

the words "good faith" and "Nancy Pelosi" should never be used together in the same story.

I saw a report on Hairball tonight...a Newsweak reporter is writing an article that says that when Duke Cunningham pled guilty to his "sins"...

he agreed to wear a "wire" to catch someone..or more than one person..

the author either didn't know..or wouldn't tell who the target of the wire was for...but, Chrissy was foaming at the mouth, thinking it was to get Delay, or any other Republican congresscritter.

Peach...between the NSA "scandal"..the Plame "scandal", the Secret Prisons "scandal"...the Abramoff "scandal"..the new Alito "scandal"...

There will be NO reason for Congress to have any regular sessions..because all congresscritters will be witnesses in ethics hearings...and all of the other investigations will take all of their time..

Oh, I forgot..McCain/Graham/Warner Torture Bill "scandal"..I am sure I will remember more...but, you get the picture...

Oh...Able Danger, the Barrett Report...sigh.

You are right...it might be a good time for a TV TIME OUT.

And who exactly did any of that? All we know so far is that a lobbyist ripped off his clients, and the MSM would love to make it a blanket condemnation of the GOP. And that's enough evidence for you???

BTW, I don't know who you think can order the IRS to investigate "enemies" - but "professional" representatives wouldn't describe anyone who could.

Aw jeez...thanks for correcting that. I wouldn't want to incorrectly smear a wonderful rag like Newsweak...

LOL..Seriesly, thanks for correcting that...I saw Michael Isikoff's face on his show..and I automatically associated the story to Newsweak..

Sadly, this corruption is spread all over D.C. - over BOTH parties.

The difference between conservatives and liberals is that most of us will be happy to see corrupt people leave the Republican party, while the liberals will provide cover via the media.

Corrupt politicians should go to jail. Regardless of what party they are from.
