Stones gig bans 'oldies' | |||||

By BECI WOOD
VETERAN rockers The Rolling Stones are too old to attend one of their OWN concerts - after organisers of their forthcoming Super Bowl gig banned audience members older than 45. The US National Football League (NFL) is offering 2,000 people a chance to watch the band in action at half-time during the final game of the season on February 5. But middle-aged fans and pensioners have been barred from the guest list because organisers fear they are not spritely enough to dance, sing and cheer. The controversial rule means the British rockers, who boast a combined age of 245, would be excluded from their own show. Adrian Thomas, spokesperson at Help the Aged said: "It's ironic that the organisers of a Rolling Stones gig should be so blatantly ageist when the band themselves are all well over 45. "The group have shown through their own long-standing success that age is absolutely no barrier to having a good time. "This ban is a completely daft and utterly unfair move on the organiser's part - there's no reason at all why a fan over the age of 45 cannot enjoy the show as much as a 25 or 35-year-old." An NFL spokesman, however, has defended the decision. He said: "You have to attend rehearsal and be able to stand for long stretches of time. "And you have to run on to Ford Field with 2,000 other folks." Do you agree with the NFL's decision? Email your views to www.yourviews@the-sun.co.uk |
as Dave Barry described the band as "a bunch of 60 year old guys who don't look a day over 90 ... except for Keith Richards - who looks like an iguana that has learned to stand on 2 legs and play a guitar
Dear lord,
that man has a face that could wreck a train.
All he needs is two crossbones under his chin and he could become a model for pesticide bottles........
While you're at it, can you bar us from the pesky higher tax brackets also?
Completely understandable. Considering they prefer chicks in their late teens and early twenties.
Maybe the Stones dont want any evil neo-con's watching?
The Rolling Wrinklies, think they can be young again
by having only young people in the audience, so
that they don't see themselves as they stick thier
tounges up in the necks of the Last of the Summers
Wine...
Pathetic old farts....supported by a fan base of
pathetic old loser farts...wh, if they weren't
such old demohippie losers, would be highly
insulted by this ban...But then, t's not like
they haven't allready supplied the Wrinklies
with enough millions to burn their way through
them till they die...without having to give a
rats ass about their fans whove supported their
drunken addict pig lifestyles for the last 50 years.
But you know what? I'll bet there are plenty of 19 year old girls that would "go out" with him in a second. And that says something about the power of fame.
The Stones live have ALWAYS sounded dreadful.
I have seen them many times in lots of different venues and they sound like they're all getting the right arms ripped off. I kept waiting for the live shows to get better. They did not.
I wish they would just go away and count their money somewhere.
Ohhhhh EEEwwwEEwwwww!
Now I need to go find brain soap! ;)
Gad! They ALL look like dead crows.

I'll challenge any of these idiots in a marathon of events any day. To presume that anyone over 45 are weak and unhealthy, is wrong. This has everything to do with getting 'good looking' folks on TV, and nothing more.
I won't be watching the 1/2 time show. They can take their act back to the UK.
No kidding. I'm 49 and I go out dancing almost every weekend.
The detox sessions add up after a while...
I'm puzzled why anyone would want to watch the Steroid Bowl, let alone these aging druggies.
He could use an EXTREME MAKEOVER....LOL.
I never liked the Stones in their hay days. I always thought Mick Jagger looked like an ugly troll from under some bridge, He hasnt gotten any prettier.
I remember once someone asked Fred Astaire why he retired and Astaire admitted he couldnt do what he used to be capable of so why ruin his reputation with a bad performance. Fred knew when his time was up too bad some others dont.
One thing about some women no matter how ugly you get if you have the celebrity and the cash there will always be one willing to accept the cash.
I'm 43 and I like them but am not a big huge fan. Someone made me a copy of A Bigger Bang; it was halfway decent, but the
lyrics of Sweet NeoCon were stuck on stupid.
How are the Rolling Stones' own CHILDREN going to get in?
