'RIGHTY' MAG MAULS PATAKI (Human Events outs RINOS)
NY POST ^ | 1/06/06 | FREDRIC U. DICKER State Editor

Posted on 01/06/2006 9:45:37 AM PST by Liz

Gov. Pataki, eyeing a race for the presidency, has won the dubious distinction of being named to a list of the Top 10 RINOS — Republicans In Name Only.

Pataki placed sixth on conservative Human Events magazine's new list of leading RINOs — topping Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts.

Pataki was faulted by the magazine for allegedly being too friendly to organized labor and too hostile to the private sector. "Helped unions raise pay and unionize Indian casinos. Has said, 'I believe in a limited government, low taxes, a tough approach to crime . . . But I also believe in an activist government, I'm not one of those laissez-faire types,' " .....

RINO list (is) headed by Rhode Island U.S. Sen. Lincoln Chafee....Sens. Olympia Snowe of Maine; Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania; and Susan Collins, Maine.

Politicians must get the message that Christians mean business. Pro-abortion, pro-gay, anti-prayer, and anti-creche positions are especially offensive, and indicate a politician is aligned with the forces of Christian-hating. Politicans must be reminded they will not get the votes of Christians unless they actively get into the fray, and vociferously oppose Christian-hating, anywhere and everywhere Christian-hating surfaces. A politican holding the listed positions labels him/herself as a Christian-hater, and cannot be seriously considered for public office at any level. Politicians must immediately take a stand against the ACLU----and any other group---which terrorizes Christians, whether through the legal system, or elsewhere, wherever Christian-hating surfaces. Politicians will get the message that Christians mean business.

Republicans Can't Win Without Christian Conservatives / major study by the Pew Forum

Americans who regularly attend worship services and hold traditional Christian religious views increasingly vote Republican, while those who are less connected to religious institutions and more secular in their outlook tend to vote Democratic, according to a major study by the Pew Forum. Some of the conclusions of this report were already evident in 2004 exit polling data.

For example, voters who attend church more than once a week (16 percent of all voters) chose Bush over Kerry by a margin of 64 – 35 percent.

Likewise, those who attend Christian denominational Churches on a weekly basis (26 percent of voters) supported the President by a 58 – 41 percent margin. Also very telling, those who never attend Church (15 percent of voters) overwhelmingly supported Kerry 62 – 36 percent.

The study further found that traditionalist elements within each religion tended to vote Republican, while modernist groups within the religions trended towards the Democrats. A multiple regression analysis of exit poll and public opinion survey data from 2000 and 2004 enabled the Pew Research Center to assign a relative weight to various demographic markers.

Interestingly, church attendance was tied with race as the most significant factor. But even that number is deceiving; in that race is only an important factor due to the high level of support the Democrats receive from black voters.

These trends represent a major shift over the past forty-five years.

White Christian Evangelicals in 1960 favored Democrats by a two-to-one margin; now they are Republican by a 56 – 27 percent margin. Seventy-eight percent of them voted for President Bush in 2004.

In 1960, 71 percent of Catholics were Democrats and now Democrats have only a slight edge among Catholics (44 – 41 percent) and Catholics voted for President Bush (52 – 47 percent) in 2004. These trends have also brought an increased acceptance of religion in the public square. While Americans do tend to favor the separation of church and state, 70 percent of voters want their President to have strong Christian religious beliefs.

Likewise, the study reveals that 52 percent of Americans believe that Christian churches should express political views. Surprisingly, support for political involvement of churches is strongest among younger voters age 18 to 29 (59 percent).

George Pataki will never be elected president. He won't even come close to getting the nomination.

I can't access the rest of the article. Who are the rest of the RINO's on the list? I imagine Hagel, McCain and Giuliani top off the list.

The Post does not list them all----go to Human Events web site. I'm sure Rudy is listed.

Rudy has his inaugural ball gown picked out already, too. Rudy in drag is one of those sure-fire election losers---like Dukakis in the tank, and Kerry in the NASA suit with the condom on his head. Course, Rudy might get the "sexually confused" vote (snicker). This is not photoshopped---Rudy really dressed like this for a fund-raiser, I believe.

Yeah, he has a history of latent tendencies. After he divorced his wife he "platonicly " shacked up with a couple known members of the Film Actors Guild.

I'm not saying guilt by association but if he were president and the marriage amendment came across his desk (even though I know that's not how it works) let's just say he wouldn't sign it.

If any RINO ever the primary's I'm staying home the first Tuesday in November.

NOPE, no Rudy.

Top 10 RINOs (Republicans in Name Only)
Ranked by the editors of Human Events.

1. Sen. Lincoln Chafee (R.I.)
Once approached by Democratic Leader Harry Reid to switch parties, Chafee has long supported liberal policies. He backs legal abortion, gay rights, federal-funded health care, strict environmental protections and a higher minimum wage. Opposes ANWR drilling. Also was the only Republican in Congress not to endorse the President’s reelection and one of three who tried to gut Bush’s tax cuts.

2. Sen. Olympia Snowe (Maine)
A self-described “centrist,” Snowe scored a 100% pro-choice voting record as scored by NARAL and consistently votes with Democrats on social issues.

3. Sen. Arlen Specter (Pa.)
“Snarlin’ Arlen” warned Bush not to nominate judges who might overturn Roe v. Wade, joined Chaffee reducing tax cuts and supported Democrats on the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, HMO and overtime regulation. Also opposed school choice in Washington, D.C.

4. Sen. Susan Collins (Maine)
Voted with liberals on the 1999 tax cut, campaign finance reform and the partial-birth abortion ban. Also advocated “pay-as-you-go” tax cuts with spending increases in 2004, leading to a budget never agreed upon between the House and Senate.

5. Rep. Christopher Shays (Conn.)
He led the House fight for McCain-Feingold campaign finance “reform.” He’s also prone to back environmental causes, gun control and abortion rights. He had no GOP challenger in 2004, but narrowly escaped defeat, 52% to 48%, by a Democratic opponent in the general election.

6. Gov. George Pataki (N.Y.)
Helped unions raise pay and unionize Indian casinos. Has said, “I believe in a limited government, low taxes, a tough approach to crime. ... But I also believe in an activist government. I’m not one of those laissez-faire types.”

7. Rep. Sherwood Boehlert (N.Y.)
Over the course of his 23-year career, he’s gained considerable power (chairman of the Science Committee), despite amassing one of the most liberal voting records of any House Republican. Fought back conservative challengers in 2000 and 2002 and could face a GOP challenge in ’06.

8. Gov. Mitt Romney (Mass.)
Has said, “I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country.” Supports civil unions and stringent gun laws. After visiting Houston, he criticized the city’s aesthetics, saying, “This is what happens when you don’t have zoning.”

9. Rep. Michael Castle (Del.)
As president of the moderate Republican Main Street Partnership and key player in the so-called Tuesday Group lunches, he is a ring-leader of RINOs. He’s teamed with Democrats to make federal funding of embryonic stem cell research one of his top priorities.

10. Rep. Jim Leach (Iowa)
One of only six House Republicans to vote against the Iraq War resolution in 2002, he was also the only Republican to vote against President Bush’s 2003 tax cuts. His support for environmental causes and abortion rights has won him liberal fans.

Like I've said in the past though, if Hillary gets the Dem nomination in '08, Rudy has a chance at taking the Republican nomination. Can't speak too badly about the guy if he may be "needed" in the near future.

That's a shocker---although one assumed the list was related to RINO presidential ambitions. Guess not.

"Can't speak too badly about the guy if he may be "needed" in the near future."

Why? Why must we put up with Rino's? If the GOP consistently puts up these RINO's why must we vote for them? If they can't put forth a strong conservative candidate why even bother to vote? The Democrats deserve to win if the GOP refuses to do the will of the people.

I wish people would stop perpetuating the delusion that Pataki, Giuliani, Romney, etc. are actually viable Republican candidates for the White House. These people would be lucky to win more than five states in a national election in which the opposing candidate was a bag of rocks.

They probably left Rudy Giuliani off the list because he doesn't currently hold office.

Politicians must get the message that Christians mean business.

Too bad you see everything from the point of view of what is best for Christians, not all Americans. Doesn't sound like a very "Christian" way to view things, either, to exclude everyone else from your personal utopia.

Rudy as a Repub contender is a horse-laugh---although Rudy's beating the bushes like crazy looking for supporters. In this Age of the Value Voter, among Rudy's huge liabilities is his personal life. Rudy's love life reads like a sordid tale from an X-rated paperback romance novel.

Rudy was first married to his cousin for 14 years, dumping her when he met Donna Hanover, then had the 14-year marriage annulled telling the Church he didn't "realize" his first wife was his second cousin.

Yeah, sure Rudy.

Mayor Rudy, while a married man and father of two, got involved with his third and present wife, escorting her publicly, and insisted his lover move into Gracie Mansion while he was still married to Donna.

Did we mention Rudy once endorsed a Democrat--Cuomo--over Pataki? And that Rudy looked the other way when his patronage appointee Russell Harding --Liberal Party's Ray Harding's son---was stealing $400,000 from the Housing Development Corp. and enjoying kiddie porn and gay vacations on the taxpayers dime?

In the Understatement of the Year, Sen Trent Lott recently warned that Guiliani's liberal views on abortion, civil unions and gay rights could make it "difficult" for him to win office as a Republican.

Trent forgot to add the Rudy would hunt down every gun, of every type, in every household in the USA and melt them down into scrap metal. Rudy doesn't need a gun. Like all rich liberals, he's got armed guards to protect him.

But I think the real vulnerability that Rudy has is his relationship with Bernard Kerik. Perhaps Rudy ought to tell voters how he plans to use failed HomeLandSec appointee Bernie Kerik's personal, business and political expertise to help him win public office.

OTOH, Rudy does look better in a dress (laughs uproariously).

LOL. You got that right.....then again, some pols do have the personality of a bag of rocks.

Conservative pro-life Christian voters made monumental contributions to GWB's 2004 vote totals. Pres Bush won with 63 Million Votes (13 million more than 2000). The US Census Bureau said 159 million US citizens describe themselves as Christians.

Religious and cultural issues provided the margin of victory for Republicans in the 2000 and 2004 elections.

Black religious voters famously factored heavily into that vote due to that sector's strong opposition to gay marriages----a key Christian conservative issue.

If this trend continues, it could be one of the most important political stories of the next several decades. Here are the numbers: The National Association of Evangelicals, represents 39 million Christian churchgoers. There are an estimated one billion Catholics around the world, and according to the Church of England, there are 70 million Anglicans.

The map, though impressive, conveys the misleading impression that blue state Catholics voted for Kerry (a CINO).

According to EWTN "The World Over Live" analysts, with the exception of VA, where Catholics spit 70/30 in favor of Bush, the majority of Catholic voters split 55/45 for Bush.....a whopping number of votes since Catholics number about 52 million Americans.

According to CNN exit polls, Bush voters included 38% of union members, 40% of those with union members in their households, 42% of those earning $15,000-$30,000, 44% f those who earn under $50,000 and 44% of Latinos, 45% of youth (aged 18-29), 13% of liberals—even 11% of Democrats voted for Bush.

2004 Election polls indicated 34% called themselves conservative, 21% liberal. Christians control 2/3'rds of the Nation's assets.

If you look closely, the map appears to place the insignificant "Other Voters" in the ocean.....that's accurate, because "Other Voters--RINO Republicans" were on cruise ships.

(MAP UPDATE Bush won Ohio, Iowa and New Mexico later.)

Just say no to Rino's. The pro-abort, pro-gay, anti-public prayer, anti-creche positions they hold are a red alert that they are in bed with virulent Christian-haters and cannot possibly be considered qualified for public office at any level, least of all as president. RINOS do not deserve Christian votes and they will not get them.
