As I understand it, fwiw, company officials made a call to the state patrol to have them advise the clergy at the church that reports may not have been accurate and to tell families to hold on.

Somehow, that information did not get passed on.

I saw that yesterday as well. I guess my point is this-If a serious "reporter/journalist" was there, they would have went to the mining spokesman or the governors office and asked-"Can you confirm this?".
From what I saw, this did not happen.
They just ran with the story, no follow up or confirmation.
