"Does anyone know whether the proposed legislation would protect employees from corporate policy reprisals? How about restaurant and retail customers?"

How about Conaco-Phillips? They have declared war on their own employees over the right to have firearms in their parked automobiles.

Well guys. it's easy to stand on principle when you're not the one with the gun to his head. As a gun owning resident of New Jersey who works in Manhattan, I would be thrilled to have my rights restored to me by any means, even if it turns out that the same device may be used to limit my rights in some other way down the road.

For me to get a concealed carry permit is for all intents and purposes impossible. While they are technically issued in my home state and NYC, they are reserved exclusively for those with major political influence and celebrities. For anyone else, it simply will not be approved under any circumstances.

Alaska, Oklahoma, & Utah have declared such parking 'wars' unconstitutional, with other States soon to follow.

Surprisingly, there is FR opposition to this type of State action. Go figure.

However, this is coming mighty close to trampling on the principles of federalism and states' rights.

Remember that his bill applies only to firearms that moved in interstate or foreign commerce. That's clearly within the jurisdiction of the Feds.

I don't think federalism applies here. Gun control leads to genocide and democide when nitwits, Clowns and nuts get hold of the reigns of power and in my view must be abolished EVERYWHERE. even in the "blue" states. This calls for a NATIONAL policy on the subject AWAY from gun control and this is a step in the right direction. Actually what is needed is either a supreme court decision that the Second Amendment protects a NATIONWIDE INDIVIDUAL RIGHT or a change in policy at the White house that ends all forms of subsidies for states practicing any gun control law going beyond the Gun Control Act of 1968 as amended by the Firearms Owner's Protection Act of the Reagan Era and finally the Congressional REPEAL of those two with a proviso for no further subsidies for any state practicing any form of Gun Control at all.
