A second female teacher has been accused of molesting a male student, Kern County Superior Court records show.
Jennifer Lynn Sanchez, 31, a mathematics teacher at Buena Vista Continuation High School in Taft, was charged on Dec. 22 with four counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old student, and one count each of oral copulation and sodomy with the same student.
She has resigned from her teaching job, school officials said Thursday.
She has pleaded not guilty in the Taft division of Kern County Superior Court and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 26.
Her bail initially was $150,500, but it was reduced on Dec. 28 to $25,000 and she has since posted that bail, court records show.
The case was investigated by the Taft Police Department. The alleged sexual encounters occurred between Oct. 1 and Nov. 21.
This case was brought to light following the arrest Wednesday of Sherry Brians, 41, a seventh-grade teacher at Buttonwillow School who was charged with engaging in lewd acts with a 12-year-old boy at the school. She is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in the Shafter division of Kern County Superior Court.

He's 17 that would be legal in some states.... this isn't nearly like the case with the 40 year old and the 12 year old... she is stupid and should be fired but I don't see the point of taking up prison space with her.

Seems like ther's a new case every week. Either female teachers have gotten a lot more wild n' crazy in recent years, or this stuff used to go on all the time and nobody thought it a big enough deal to prosecute.

It was certainly going on in my day... but what boy would spill the beans? And would turn in a cool teacher? Sheesh..the younger generation is very disapointing sometimes...
Now as a teacher I wouldn't even tap a girl on the shoulder... but that's different. :)

It was usually male teacher after female students back then. Now that was a big deal. The guy was ruined for life, though there was one teacher smart enough to wait for a classmate to become of age, and then he ended up marrying her......

My 8th grade English teacher, a real cutie, caused irrepairable damage to me which I have never gotten over.

I'm not sure how she gets charged with Sodomy, it seems like that would be something he would have done.....
Plus, didn't the Supreme Court rule that Sodomy was OK?
I know where you're coming from, but I disagree with your premis. This woman was 35, he was 17. Besides the "sick" factor here, its IS against the law. If we start watering down sentencing because some states are more permissive than others, the respect for the law becomes a joke. Absolutely no teacher in K-12 should ever under any circumstance be allowed to have sex with a student. Period. I don't care if you have a 19 year old on his third try at senior year. Teachers are in a position of authority and like any other workplace, authority is too easily abused and should be prohibited.

It's legal in California, too, but it's against the law for teachers to have sex with minor students. That's why the unlawful sexual intercourse charge.
Otherwise, 17 year olds can rut as they choose.
