NORFOLK, Va. Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson criticized Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon today, connecting Sharon's stroke to Israeli policies.
Robertson said Sharon divided Israel and ... quote ... "woe unto any Prime Minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the EU (European Nation), the United Nations, or the United States of America."
The comments came on "The 700 Club," broadcast from Robertson's Christian Broadcasting Network in Virginia Beach.
Robertson said he considers Sharon a good friend, and that he was sad to see him so ill.
Robertson spokeswoman Angell Watts did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.
People For the American Way Foundation, which monitors "The 700 Club," criticized Robertson's remarks.
The group's president, Ralph Neas, said in a statement that Robertson ... quote ... "leaves us speechless with his insensitivity and arrogance."
In August, Robertson suggested on "The 700 Club" that American agents should assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Robertson later apologized for his remarks.
I think Pat needs to hang it up
*Far* too seriously!
What a piece of work.
3 post in a row same second
These days, it's almost like he's being paid to make Christians and conservatives look foolish.
Why does Pat always seem to come up with this kind of stuff? Is he losing it?
Is Pat channeling Iran's President?
I agree.
Pretty bold.
Would somebody please remind Pat Robertson to take his meds on a regular schedule?
One of our foremost false prophets puts his foot in it again. Does anyone actually pay attention to Pat Robertson anymore?
Oh the minivan should pick up Robertson and Murtha in one trip. Yikes!
And on what does Pat blame his own increasing dementia?
I don't suppose the fact that he's a rather large, older gentleman with the weight of the world on his shoulders would have anything to do with it.
Or vice versa?
