Does the Bible support Pat Robertson deciding that the illnesses of famous people are specific retributions from God for the specific reasons Pat Robertson happens to believe? Highly doubtful. Maybe I think God was punishing Sharon for killing Palestinians in those camps, or for not building the wall high enough, or for not attacking Iran yet, or for offending his wife or children in some way. Does the Bible prove me right or wrong?

But especially to say something like that when he is on his deathbed. You can discuss his policies, and whether or not they were correct in due time. But now it's not. And yes, to suggest he is being "punished" by God because of it, is ludicrous.

"Sharon had a stroke because that's what sometimes happens to people who GET OLD."
AND weigh something over three hundred pounds. Now, what's the excuse for what's happening to Pat's brain?

He was dividing Gods land, Robertson said. And I would say, Woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the E.U., the United Nations or the United States of America. God says, This land belongs to me. You better leave it alone. This quote by Pat Robertson does not state that Sharon was struck with a stroke by God because he was seeking to divide Israel. Pat said that he believes God does not want the land divided. He did not say that Sharon was struck down because of it. Unless there is some other part of the quote that I am missing.

And you Pat, when you someday pass away from whatever ailment claims you - what will God be punishing you for?
And to think this guy was running for President once.
To: areafiftyone
Ariel Sharon is a 77 year old fat man with high blood pressure and was taking powerful blood thinners.
Pat Robertson is a blithering idiot with way too much time on his hands and too much access to the media.
Pat, shut your flapping trap. You're making everyone who has ever been associated with Christ look bad.

Well then, Pat must be agreeing with this guy (via
LittleGreenFootballs, also posted elsewhere on FR):
Palestinian Terror Leader: Sharon's Stroke is "God's Gift"
The leader of the PFLP, currently hiding from justice in Syria, calls Ariel Sharons cerebral hemorrhage a gift from God.
Pan-Arab satellite television broadcasters beamed out largely straightforward, nonstop live coverage early Thursday from outside the hospital where Prime Minister Ariel Sharon struggled for his life.
But a radical Palestinian leader in Damascus, the Syrian capital, called Sharons health crisis a gift from God.

I've very leary of people who claim to speak for God! Maybe the same thing will happen to him that happened to Herod when people acclaimed "the words of a god, and not a man". And the sooner the better.

How about when Jesus was asked if the man's blindness was caused by his sins or the sins of his parents. Jesus said neither. If God "punishes" people with illnesses for their sins, why would Jesus reply this way?

Don't confuse the self-righteous with the truly righteous. Thats a mistake commonly made by many people.
