Pat Robertson, like all television evangelists, has always been a sanctimonias a$$

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT. Who the heck appointed Pat Robertson as God's Messenger? NOONE! He apponted himself and made a pretty penny off of it from innocent gullible people.

I wonder if Pat brought up this fact?

A corruption investigation may have been a major adverse contributing factor for Prime Minister Sharon's extremely serious medical condition. Excessively high blood pressure is most likely.

Police claim to have evidence against Sharon in Kern affair By Yaakov Katz, Jan. 3rd, 2006

"Police announced on Tuesday that they have collected evidence indicating that Prime Minister Ariel Sharon allegedly received $3 million from Austrian businessmen Martin and James Schlaff. The money, police suspect, may have been given as a bribe to Sharon to promote the Schlaff brother's business interests in Israel.

Part of the money, police said, was used by Sharon to repay illegal campaign contributions he received in the 1999 Likud primaries. The rest of the money, sources said, was pocketed by the Sharon family.

In court documents, obtained by The Jerusalem Post and first revealed by Channel 10 on Tuesday night, the police spelled out its suspicions against the prime minister and claimed to have evidence that the money was transferred to Sharon by the Schlaff brothers - known Austrian-Jewish businessmen.

=======================================

Yesterday I spoke to a friend who lives in Jerusalem relating to the subject of of PM Sharon, Gaza, Iran etc.

In his opinion since Israel's "strategic Gaza withdrawal" Hamas terrorists have increased dangerous capabilities of hitting Ashkelon's main coal-fired power plant with a potential of turning off the lights of many Israelis. In addition to Hamas terrorists now freely able to operate in northern Gaza, these thugs could also attempt to destroy Ashkelon's desalination plant. which is the world’s largest and most advanced seawater desalination plant. The bulk of the water produced in Ashkelon is shipped to the Negev, and some goes to Jerusalem and the enemy knows it.

In the near future when Israel & America deal first with Syria, then "nuclear" Iran, in conjunction with delivering devastating military defeats to their fanatical, jihadist, terrorist proxies, Syrian promoted Hezballah's death cultists based in Lebanon, which continue shelling northern Israelis towns. Then there is the other Iranian armed & bankrolled Hamas terrorists infesting Gaza and presently threatening Israelis as well as Israel's southern power and drinking water grid with Qassam rocket attacks.

As I post this the Prime Minister is undergoing his second brain surgery going into the fourth hour on the operating table. Prayers are sent. Pat Robinson feels it's wrong

Pat Robertson deserves to suffer a massive stroke that leaves him pooing his diapers and drooling. Oh wait, he's already in that condition.

I think that Christian TV as a whole, has done more harm than good. There are some decent shows at times, but the surface, shallow, glitzy nature of TV just encourages the shallow surface glitzy showbiz elements of Christianity in our culture that most Christians are really ashamed of being associated with, anyway. Combine that with the huge money drain that TV is, and some of the more sensational scandals that have traspired around the constant need for these people to get money to fund the programming, and I would say that as a whole, it is a negative.

It is interesting that religious broadcasters are against "unbundling" packages of programming for cable/direct TV because they KNOW that if customers can choose on a per-channel basis, they will lose broadcast access. The very existence of these religious channels comes from gov't regulation demanding that carriers bundle them in.

I think that even with the good stuff, it is mostly pearls to pigs. Podcast type of selective video distribution would be a way better channel of distribution.

Here is the reality pal - by Pat Robertson's stupid and insensitive comments, he just undid years of work between the conservative movement in America and Isreal, Evangelicals and Jews, and emboldened the enemies of Isreal.

When Pat does stupid stuff like this he also undoes all the wonderful charity work that his ministry does. It never gets mentioned because everybody is deconstructing his latest idiotic comment.

I know that Pat believes that it is God's will for the Jews to "return" to Isreal. I understand that. But suggesting that God struck down Sharon, a man who won the whole Sinai when he was a general, is foolish.

For that he is an idiot.

Pat is, of course, correct about what the Bible says about dividing the land. But it is impossible for him to know if God is specifically punishing a person unless God tells him through a prophet, a burning bush, etc. Not only that, it was just bad timing. As Convert from ECUSA put it, it would be like announcing that someone is burning in hell at a funeral. It may or may not be true, but it would certainly be extremely bad funeral etiquette, and a violation of the Biblical command for humans NOT to judge one's soul. Moreover, I wonder if Pat thought about the implications of the prospect that God IS NOT punishing Sharon. Wouldn't that be the spiritual equivalent of slander (bearing false witness) against God?

The more I think about this, the more I pray for a miraculous recovery for Sharon. Not only because I feel that it's important for the stability of the region, but also to prove PR absolutely wrong.

In 1998, I prayed for 2 years that the whole Y2K hysteria was wrong. It was. And then when nothing happened, the whole issue was mysteriously dropped. I'm sick of "Christian" fads. I want the never changing, real God, who is not known to false prophets. I want the God who is not trying to scare us into believing in Him, but who has LOVED us into believing in Him and trusting Him.

I am absolutely appalled by the many insensitive comments on this thread. People are rushing full speed ahead to jump on the Pat Robertson whoopie cushion. I personally watch the 700 Club and receive many blessings from watching this show. I can't believe the many anti-Christian comments that I'm reading on this thread. If people want to find comfort from watching Christian TV, that is their own business.

I watched the news segment of the 700 Club today Jan. 6th and found that their coverage of Sharon was exemplary. Pat Robertson wasn't on today's show. What is the exact date of the show in which Pat Robertson supposedly made the objectionable comment, the article doesn't make this clear. I'm still looking for a transcript.

Re: the link to "Raw Story" in post 171:

Raw Story is posting a transcript provided by People for the American Way. In the transcript, Pat Robertson does NOT say quote "Sharon being punished by God". This incendiary title is provided either by the site Raw Story or the PFAW.

Here's what Pat says on this issue...."I think we need to look at the Bible and the book of Joel. The prophet Joel makes it very clear that God has enmity against those who 'divide my land'. God considers this land to be his....He was dividing God's land and I would say woe unto any Prime Minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the EU, the United Nations, or the United States of America. God says 'this land belongs to me. You'd better leave it alone.' "

Pat Robertson is a Christian religious Zionist who is hereby giving his interpretation of the scriptures. One can agree with him or not on his interpretation, he is merely providing teaching on this issue. It's a far cry to jump from Pat's constitutional right to interpret the Bible, to posting bog articles with incendiary headlines that suggest that Pat is pointing fingers at another world leader and suggesting that God wants Sharon dead.

This is what passes today in America as "public discourse".

Herds of yapping Chihuahuas following the A dog wherever he leads them.

Personally, I am all for Pat's "constitutional" right to be tactless. I am just appalled that he is saying this while Sharon is practically on his deathbed. It's in extreme poor taste and not loving at all. What's the point of him saying this? The past cannot be changed, even if he believes this to be true.

Yes, and using that equation there are a number of Evangelicals who are planning for the end of the world/rapture in 2007.

The Bible says only God knows.

Mt. 24:32 “Now learn this lesson from the fig-tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near.

Mt. 24:33 Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it [Or he] is near, right at the door.

Mt. 24:34 I tell you the truth, this generation [Or race] will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.

Mt. 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Mt. 24:36 “No-one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, [Some manuscripts: do not have nor the Son.] but only the Father.

Mt. 24:37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

Mt. 24:38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;

The L-rd has commanded us to know when He will be at the door.

OBTW The only time that we do not know the day nor hour is the beginning of Yom Teruah.

But I think not; it may be on the anniversary of the birth of the church: Shavout.

Pat Robertson....Combat marine my ass !

Pat claims to be a decorated combat marine. Pat is a liar. His father was a US senator who intervened with the Marine Corps to have his son assigned to duty in the rear, away from combat. Robertson served in Korea as the "liquor officer" -- responsible for keeping the officers' clubs supplied with liquor.

I too am late coming to this thread....just finished reading your post #360 and #367, and I want to thank you for those posts...both your comments about why what Pat Robertson said is not according to Biblical teachings, and your remarks about the horror that Christian TV has become, mirror my sentiments exactly....tho you said it much better than I could have...thanks...

It's in extreme poor taste and not loving at all.

You don't get it...Pat Robertson is a teacher of the Bible and a Christian Zionist. He is appalled that Sharon's actions have created a new terrorist state on Israel's border. He is extremely concerned for the future of the State of Israel. Therefore he gave the teaching that he did.

You may not like it, but Pat believed that it needed to be said, and he was speaking to his flock... not to YOU.

The bottom line is, Israel is in danger for her survival, but many governments want her to continue to sacrifice her security for "world peace".

The White House should have kept their mouth shut on Pat Robertson. Their comments play into the hands of People for the American Way and other groups that want to crush evangelicals.
