I'm not sure if you've dealt with our colleague hedgetrimmer before. She has a propensity to make outlandish claims and then pretend they don't exist, making their defense unnecessary.

I wonder if she finds it dismaying to be schooled on the U.S. Constitution by a British national. And a Goth, no less. [chuckle]

I'm slightly unnerved by the suggestion that some people are making that protectionism is somehow in the Constitution. It's not. People who say so are no better than the far left liberals who suggest that the Constitution's meaning is whatever they say it is.
