I'm slightly unnerved by the suggestion that some people are making that protectionism is somehow in the Constitution. It's not. People who say so are no better than the far left liberals who suggest that the Constitution's meaning is whatever they say it is.

Yes, it is in the Constitution. And the tariffs on foreign imports were to be a KEY source of income for the Federal Government. Founding Fathers LIKED to protect American economy - read my tagline.
