PALESTINIAN society disintegrated further yesterday as gunmen from the ruling Fatah movement tried to kidnap the parents of an American activist who died trying to halt the demolition of Gaza homes, while other militants destroyed part of Gaza's border wall with Egypt - killing two guards.
Both actions, and the takeover of seven government offices in the town of Rafah, were undertaken by the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade in order to put pressure on the Palestinian Authority to release a militant arrested on Tuesday for alleged involvement in the kidnapping last week of the British human rights worker Kate Burton and her parents, Helen and Hugh.
Spokesmen for the gunmen appeared on al-Jazeera television unmasked and announced that there would be no voting in Rafah on 25 January, the day of parliamentary elections, unless the suspected kidnapper, Alaa al-Hams, is released.
Two Egyptian guards were shot dead in the clashes on the border with Gaza after about 300 Palestinians streamed through two breaches in the border wall, security sources said last night.
The violence followed the destruction of a section of the border wall by two bulldozers stolen from the Rafah municipality. Earlier, gunmen rampaged through Rafah, closed the border crossing and occupied government buildings.
Leaders of the Palestinian Authority concede that the entire project of statehood is in jeopardy, not from Israel, but from their own political movement.
Yesterday's rampages began at about 2am, when six gunmen, angered over al-Hams's arrest, attempted to abduct charity workers Craig and Cindy Corrie, whose daughter Rachel was killed three years ago by an Israeli bulldozer.
What a testament to Rachel's misguided "sacrifice". Pfft!
Palestinian terrorists tried to kidnap Rachael Corrie's parents. ping
Is this kind of like a reverse Darwin award situation?
Oh, they will spin this into a "the gunmen were only trying to keep us safe" thing.
Don't think so. If beheading a son couldn't convince Nick Berg's father, then no attempted kidnapping would phase these libs.
Article says they are charity workers. I suppose it fits in their case...
But... I'm sure the Pallies are the Corries' Pals... fine people, all of them.
Probably. I'd forgotten about that guy. Surprising the RATS haven't tried to dredge him up again, ala Cindy Shee-bat.
"...charity workers Craig and Cindy Corrie, whose daughter Rachel was killed three years ago by an Israeli bulldozer."
This pancake didn't fall far from the pancake tree.
"If you just be nice to the snakes they won't bite you"
Right.
The Corries are just lucky there wan't an Israeli bulldozer operating nearby? I don't think the Palis have resisted the propaganda opportunity.
No. The arrogant juvenile committed suicide by bulldozer.
No I think they're thinking how they hate the Jews for making the Palistinians so mad.
lol
Rachel Corrie: Cause of death; Too thin.
Another source said they actually let them go once they realized who they were, (which should embolden the Appeasers even further):

"Five gunmen burst into a house and tried to kidnap Rachel Corrie's parents, Craig and Cindy. The gunmen eventually relented after being told who their targets were."
Catch-and-Release Terrorism
Remember Rachel Corrie, who died in March 2003 in an accident she caused by standing in the way of an Israeli bulldozer that was filling in a weapons-smuggling tunnel in Rafah, Gaza? Her parents, who've taken up her cause, had their own brush with danger in Rafah this morning, the Associated Press reports:
Five gunmen burst into a house and tried to kidnap Rachel Corrie's parents, Craig and Cindy. The gunmen eventually relented after being told who their targets were.
When we described Rachel Corrie as a "terror advocate," we received lots of e-mails howling in protest. If this description was unfair, can someone please explain why these terrorists "relented after being told who their targets were"?
I know I shouldn't laugh ,but what the heck.
