The MSM spin on this story is an outrage. They claim that that Republicans received most of this illicit cash while an objective news source such as this points out that almost all the money went to Democrats!
Hopefully, this investigation and trial will lead to Everyone who received his money being forced from office and into prison.

Is there any website that lists the Abramoff contribution numbers to Republicans, for comparison?

The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians paid $15 million to Abramoff and Scanlon's organizations. The funds were diverted to a number of projects, including the Eshkol Academy, an all-boys Orthodox Jewish school set up by Abramoff in Maryland, and to a friend who ran sniper workshops for the Israel Defence Forces.

This isn't objective and it doesn't point out any such thing as "most of the money went to Democrats". Try again. Elsewhere the entire list since 1996 is posted and it contains many, many Republicans. Including Bush, who is returning money he got.
Then consider that this is one capitol hill lobbying firm but there are hundreds of other ones. They are all feasting on the trough of special interest money. Which is why, with Republicans running everything for, what, six years now, we have the biggest deficits, biggest government and some of the most stupid and wasteful programs.
How much does it cost to buy a loophole? How about a $13 Billion unconstitutional Africa AIDS program? How about a bogus defense contract?

Possibly the first sensible post I have seen on this topic.

Yeah this story is just the old "they were doing it too!!!!" response, because of course the Dems will paint it as a Republican problem only. And of course the Republicans will fight back by mentioning all the Dems involved with Abramoff while glossing over the fact that 2/3 of his money went to Republicans.
Whatever party is in power usually receives the most crooked money. That's the Republicans for the moment. And lo and behold, it looks like the Republican leadership got more money than the Republican rank and file. Money follows power like a stink on... well, you get the idea.
All crooks should go to jail. If it turns out 100 Republicans were crooks and only 2 Democrats, fine with me. Off to jail with them all. If it turns out no one did anything illegal, that's fine too. It's good that a story like this comes out to show the public how Washington actually works.

Someone raised a good point on another thread (albeit, in jest). They said that this will bring in a new era of bipartisan cooperation. The way Abramoff spread himself around, there are a lot of politicians on both sides who are worried. The question is are they worried enough and numerous enough to attempt to 'sweep it under the rug'...
If folks are guilty, we better throw the bums out!
