City's Border Push Sparks Outcry(First city to enforce immigration laws in America!)
LOS ANGELES TIMES ^ | January 4, 2006 | Jean O. Pasco

Activists clashed in Costa Mesa on Tuesday night over the city's decision to become the nation's first authorizing its police department to enforce federal immigration laws.

A 3-2 vote last month to train police officers to work with federal immigration officials and sheriff's deputies to determine the immigration status of suspects arrested for other crimes has made the city a battleground in the national controversy over immigration policy.

Mayor Allan Mansoor, who proposed the idea, has stressed that enforcement will focus on those accused of serious crimes and that no random sweeps will occur.

"The public has been demanding this," said Mansoor, who is also an Orange County sheriff's deputy.

About 80 activists massed before Tuesday's council meeting, singing in Spanish and carrying hand-painted signs reading "Nobody Is Illegal" and "Mansoor Is a Bigot." Other signs proclaimed the United States the property of Mexico and Americans as the interlopers.

Some 40 opponents of illegal immigration also gathered, some shouting, "America is a nation of laws!"

"This is a nation of law, and people who come here should respect our laws," said Laura Carder of Costa Mesa, who supported the action.

"You're supposed to come through a screening process to get here."

Francisco Jorge said he drove to Costa Mesa from Mojave to address the council because illegal immigration is "completely out of control."

"No one has the right to come to the U.S. illegally, and no true citizen would mind a police officer asking what his citizenship is," said Jorge, who said he immigrated to the U.S. legally from Cuba. "We need to have our police involved in this problem because we are overrun."

Thereby revealing the true agenda of the pro-illegal crowd.

Arrest Disrupts Costa Mesa Council Meeting(City votes FOR immigration enforcement!)

Tezcalipoca and about 100 people were there to protest...

Coyotl Tezcalipoca, also known as Benito Acosta, strongly resisted, and the officers dragged him out. The crowd of supporters closely surrounded the five police officers, who were all trying to control Tezcalipoca, and demanded that they let him go. The council meeting resumed about 30 minutes later.

Could be...but let's not forget Counties whose Sherrifs are also actively pursuing violators of immigration law. Cochise County, AZ, is heavily involved in assisting the USBP in their job.

We are not a "nation of laws". This phrase covers a lot of judicial mischief. We are a nation of lawful people seking justice.
Illegal immigrants seek to gain advantage on our citizens and legal residents.

These people are pretty stupid. Don't they know the media are on their side? They'd be better off looking pathetic and holding signs saying, "We just want to work!" "This is a nation of immigrants!" "We are hardworking people with family values," etc. Instead they are arrogant and demanding. They gleefully rub Americans' noses in it. They are displaying rudeness and utter disrespect for us and our laws. They have an incredible sense of entitlement, with their signs in Spanish and their insistence that this is their land.

Well, good. The more they behave that way, the more Americans will wake up, get ticked off, get off their butts and start fighting the invasion.

Don't worry, the media will never show any of those radical's America-hating signs. They will look all over for one redneck in a camouflage shirt with a "Mexicans go home" sign, and lead the news with that instead.

It will be great when every jurisdiction enforces immigration laws. I don't expect to see it in heavy Democrat areas, however.

It was like Bush didn't telegraph his intentions well before the elections.

If you voted for a guy who wanted amnesty, don't complain when you get amnesty.
