The press report did not cause those men to die.
Anderson Cooper is pulling out all the cliches.
"You hear about the fog of war", he says. "this is a stunning development", he says.
Ben Hatfield, President International Coal Group, says the false information that there were many survivors was a "miscommunication".
"A thorough investigation will be held, with our full cooperation", he says.
I have no idea how this news of 12 survivors was allowed to hang out there for 3 hours. Someone must have known that was untrue. Why didn't they say something?? How could they let the families believe for so long that their loved ones were alive when they in fact weren't??
This was such a monumental screwup by someone and a very cruel one. Those poor families were put on an unbelievable emotional rollercoaster. Someone needs to explain this. I can understand how false information gets out but I have no idea how it is allowed to stay out there for 3 HOURS!!!
He didn't say it did.
One alive. Critical condition. He's one very lucky young man and I hope for his full recovery.

I just happened to wake up an hour ago and was so excited to read what I thought was the great news...I very nearly almost woke up my whole household. I feel so sick for the people who had their hopes lifted like that and being pulled out of their houses with false hope...just so incredibly cruel and messed up.
Let's not forget to be so thankful for the one miracle survivor in the middle of this mess. I just pray he recovers.

Rescue team cell phone communications picked up by 'someone' who relayed bad information.
About 10 minutes ago, a phoney psychic, Sylvia Brown on Coast to Coast was bragging about how she knew that they were all OK.
Then Fox jumped in with this story.

Hatfield said the company did NOT make any release about the 12 miners. He said someone in the rescue area overheard a conversation, misunderstood it, and used a cell phone to relay it to the families.
"Can you explain what happened?"
"There was no such word from the company."
"Stray cell phone conversations ... miscommunications ... rescue workers ... alive and well, [but] couldn't confirm..."
"The miners survived for a period of time."
As much as I detest the msm & their lies, they are not resposible this time. They tried to report what they were being told.
I'm sorry if I misunderstood the comment, but it looked extremely similar to the often seen political statement accusing (place name here)'s lies of causing deaths. Example: Bush Lied, Soldiers Died.
