On January 4, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. (PST) the Rose Bowl Game will host the BCS National Championship, between USC and Texas once again showcasing the best of collegiate football in "The Granddaddy of Them All."® The Rose Bowl will be broadcast exclusively on ABC and on ESPN radio.
A helicopter made an emergency landing on the Rose Bowl playing field.
Yep. This was a rare case of recruiting being able to overcome inferior coaching.
They have got to improve that defense.
We're champs! Sore losers can kiss my you-know-where
PC made a decent call going for it a mid-field. A punt gives the ball the VINCE THE FREAKING MAN with plenty of time to work. LenDale White, once past the O line, had been advancing the ball relentlessly against the undersized speedsters in UT's backfield. UT made the stop when they absolutely had to.
on FOX11 now....
the FOX11 helo made an emergency landing....there was smoke or fire on board.
Im so happy for Texas! Im not a Texas fan just a Football fan.
My teams are Notre Dame and Purdue. Bears and Colts :P
Excellent graphic. Going into my favorites. Great game!
You shouldn't be disapointed - non-championship bowl games are meaningless. Some teams take them more seriously and some teams go out and party all week. I think that Auburn just got home from the bar moments before playing the game.
You guys were probably the best team in the SEC at the end of the year. I don't like Tubberville's personality - he seems to rub a lot of people the wrong way but he can coach players up.
You guys could easily be a top 5 team next year as well.
Amen. And no doubt USC then suffered disconbobulation.
/i I was living and working in Europe at the time. Was it Spurrier who got spanked? If so, it couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy. /i
yes, Spurrier was handed his head. The fool had his Heisman QB run plays from an empty backfield. The Black Shirts had him (and them) for lunch the whole game.
This game tonight was a truly a classic. There have been several others recently:
'79 #1 Georgia vs #2 PennState
'96 the aforementioned #1 Neb vs #2 Fla = blowout by Nebraska
'2001 - #1 Miami vs #2 Nebraska = blowout by Miami.
'2004 #1 USC vs #2 Oklahoma = blowout by USC.
We got plenty of runways over here for you to use;)
Did you know that God is a Longhorn?
That's why the sunset is burnt orange...
Get Shula an offensive coordinator and some receivers who can catch the ball and the Iron Bowl will, more often than not, be for the SEC West (as it should be).
Congrats to Texas!
Almost as sweet as beating USC, is the sound of disappointment in Keith Jackson's voice.
That about sums it up.
I'd like to see a complete overhaul, integrating the traditional bowls into an 8-team playoff system.
There has got to be something said for the genius that black young men have brought to pro sports-- It is staggering how at the top of his game physically and Mentally Vince Young is. I fear the feminiztion that many white mothers force on their boys is going to mean the death of the white athlete.
HOOK 'EM
"My teams are Notre Dame and Purdue."
My whole family went to Notre Dame, but I went to Texas. I've been an ND fan since the womb. Great year, but crappy ending; ND didn't have the talent to match up with Homes, Ginn, and Smith.
"If somebody doesn't do something USC is going to lose".
He sounded really upset.
Leinart is a whiner. I thought his post-game comments were classless.
You're right. Keith Jackson was a partisan hack in the booth tonight. Why didn't they just have Matt Leinart's Dad call the game.
