Tell me what I did wrong with my Clam Chowder yesterday, I think I had a bad batch of clams. Can you not make chowder in a crock pot?

I've never made clam chowder. I've only made linguini with (white) clam sauce.

I know you have to be careful not to overcook the clams or they get tough. Other than that, I can't be much help.

mylife: Can you help?

Hope you don't mind me jumping in here..
Sarge, being from Maine..I know clams!
Pesonally, I would not use fresh clams in a crock pot..
Seafood is wonderful, but poisons up quickly..
I worry that the slow temps would allow bacteria to form and make you really ill..(If they are fresh clams)
Try this recipe..

This makes 4-5 servings

3 103/4 oz. cans cream of potato soup
210 2/4 oz cans New England Clam chowder
1/2 cup butter
1 small onion diced
1 pint 1/2 and 1/2
2 61/2 oz cans chopped clams

Combine all ingredients in slow cooker
Cover and cook on low 2-4 hours

Enjoy!
