This is all Drudge has for now.

It sounds like a really bad idea to me.

Carter's Secretary of Defense thinks Bush is the anti Christ and that Zarqawi, Ahmadinejad, and Bin Laden are heros of the modern era.

The Pres is pretty sure of himself. This would be to get all the opinions out and done with, which is happening by dribbles every day anyway. Why not listen to the elder statesmen?

When everybody has a better idea, bring them all together and let them find out for themselves that not only do they all disagree with you, but no two agree with each other. Gets a lot quieter for a while after.

Generally, Iraq discussions do tend to focus on Iraq.

Does Drudge think that Bush has invited the Department of Redundancy Department? (Motto: We do it twice, or we don't do it.)

The only way this is a good idea, is if he calls the leftists the idiots and communists that they are.

They should make an exception and invite Ramsey Clark....and then arrest him when he shows up.

This is all Drudge has for now.

Drudge is behind the curve on this story, something that's not unusual for him. This was reported over the holiday weekend, and mentioned on the "Day in the life of..." thread on New Year's Day. Look here in the Week Ahead section: freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1550392/posts

Not sure this matters much. No if Bush announced he was holding a Town Hall meeting with all former secretaries of state - then I would be a tad more concerned.

A blast from the past on the series called CLINTON AND THE MILITARY. It really would be fun to hear Warren Christopher's view.

A Warren Christopher story that no one should every forget. This was written by Lt. Col. Tom McKenney (Ret) for the CLINTON CHRONICLES BOOK in his chapter --- THE UNTHINKABLE COMMANDER IN CHIEF. I had the great pleasure to do an interview with the colonel on the DFU RADIO HOUR.
================================================

It is significant that the man Clinton turns to for military advice ---who argued against the tanks and APC's for the raid in Mogadishu---is the same Warren Christopher (then a high official in Jimmy Carter's National Security Council) who helped plan the disastrous raid to rescue the hostages in Iran.

At a planning session for the Tehran rescue, the man selected to lead the raid, the late Colonel Charlie Beckwith, was asked what the would do about the Iranian guards. Bechwith, a no-nonsense veteran of special operations, replied that as they came out the door they would be shot in the head---twice---to be sure they couldn't do any harm.

Warren Christopher gasped, grimaced, viscerally shocked, and asked, "Couldn't you just shoot them in the hand?"

Had Charlie Beckwith been allowed to plan the Iranian raid as it should have been done and left alone to carry it out, it would have succeeded.

Concerning the Mogadishu disaster, Beckwith wrote in The Wall Street Journal that the raid was bungled by committing the Rangers and Delta Force without giving them the freedom and the support they needed.
