Thanks for the link. Excellent ads. Is there a Canadian equivalent to US 527's that run ads like these on TV and Radio? Would sure be nice to see.
Hopefully he will continue to rise. Its nice to see the conservatives in both the US and Canada taking off the gloves. I think that they wait for them to stick their necks out far enough before they cut 'em off.

The short answer is no. You can avoid government control to some extent by not going for tax deductibility but the state is constantly attempting to pass new laws essentially outlawing free speech especially during elections.
There's been limited success in having them overturned by the Courts (often once it's too late to influence a particular issue) since Jurists wouldn't want them also being used to infringe on the "rights" of perverts, etc.
During the years between his two stints in Parliament, Stephen Harper was head of "The National Citizens' Coalition" - likely the best known and most successful of conservative advocacy groups.
