Breaking on CNN live right now.
Yeah, that is rediculous.
Just this morning out at my parents farm in East Texas there was a fire down the road and firman were trying to get it under control and put it out. I believe it was put out fortuntely but had it not my parents home would likely have been in danger. This is serious. My parents aren't even burning their trash right now. Thankfully no one in the area last night was shooting fire crackers, but I swear if I hear anyone around here doing anything I will call the cops.
Not the OKC fire. The mod's comments. Thanks, though.
My sister in north Texas just emailed that Hwy 82 has been closed from Henrietta to Nocona and towns are being evacuated.
No mention of it in the news, at least not that I heard.
I live in Carson City. We had major floods yesterday and tonight we are waiting for the next storm to hit.
The city has been trying to scoop all the mud out of the streets with bulldozers, but it is quite a mess.
Just spoke to my mother in Dallas and they are desperate for rain.
What a strange confluence of floods and drought fires.
Huck
Here's the thing, houses have propane tanks outside, oil tanks in their basement...that sort of thing. Let a flame hit something like this and boom, that house is gone.
My house burned to the ground when I was a kid. There are no words, and I fancy myself a wordsmith, to describe the bottomless pit in your stomach as you watch your house and everything...EVERYTHING you have, burn to the ground while you stand by helpless.
I lost every stitch of CLOTHES I owned, no shoes, no nothing. Brings back those horrific memories.
Actually, FOX is on it live now.
WE just spotted a fire at most a mile or two southwest of us...it is moving fast...we are watching anxiously!
I believe it is at North 50th and Sooner. S. 50th doesn't actually intersect Sooner, but it is near Tinker
OKC is smack in the middle of the state, with Guthrie about 40 miles north and Norman 20 miles to the south. OKC is about 20 (?) miles from north to south, being the 2nd largest city geographically in the US.

OK, I found the part of Sooner Rd farther north, by doing a manual (eyeball) search. I see what you're saying now. I have a client near there, and another one who could be in the path if it kept moving east.
I guess with FOX on a Sunday night, thier reporters are recovering from New Years eve, and Ollie North's war stories is about as current as they want to get. Sometimes CNN shines through on breaking news. This is one of those times.
Good. CNN only beat them by 3 hours this time.
We are just north of the Shawnee city line. Winds are as bad as they have been all day.
Yeah, S. 50th and Sooner would be inside Tinker AFB. I have relatives at S. 74th and Sooner, though.
Guthrie is about 35 miles north of Oklahoma City. Norman is about 20 miles south. Both are on I-35.
Thanks. I just posted in #92 that I found the other part of Sooner.
Local news here in OKC is pre-empting everything.
Channel 9 reporting now that the fire in oKC is jumping Sooner Road.
