For a little bit of perspective on the problem in my part of the state. If you look down to the lower right hand corner there's a bunch of travel trailers. This is fairly common right now. When your area gets hit by a Cat 3 hurricane chances are real good that there will be great devastation. Some of the most damaged areas are in the nicer parts of town.

Thank you, CajunConservative, for posting this. I know that some folks in this country [and on FRee Republic] cannot see past their own self-absorption ... but others will, I bellieve, begin to comprehend the incredible destruction of the Gulf Coast, if they can see some of it for themselves.

I saw a lot of this when I was there. The hurricane hit rich and poor alike.

I just think of my relatives, good hardworking people, never asked the govt. or anybody for anything.

They signed a contract for a roofer and carpenter the day we left.

What is astounding is how wide an area was affected.
