LOL! Are you from there? A nice day and you have 'traffic' 'people traffic' to get a hot dog. They park on the other side of Walter's and cross in the middle - well, you know. Do you think it's the world best?

I would not question your conservatism at all. I see what you are saying now, but since the meaning and use of the term "hate crime" has been hijacked by the left to introduce bias in the justice system, it kind of freaks someone out when they hear that. You know, similar to how the word "gay" used to mean "happy" and not "homosexuality".

Sure, I think all crime involves some level of hate. Some more than others too. But I don't think it's necessary to construct the notion of a "hate crime" to get judges to dole out the level of punishment they should have been doing all along.

And If you wan't to increase punishment for destroying the property of places of worship, I'm cool with that. I just wouldn't want to refere to it as hate crime legislation..at least not in these times.

"I can't imagine what gets into thugs to do such things."

It's more of a "who" than a "what," IMO. He has a name. Several of them, actually.

Sancte Michael Archangele, defende nos in proelio; contra nequitiam et insidias diaboli esto praesidium. Imperat illi Deus; supplices deprecamur: tuque, Princeps militiae coelestis, Satanam aliosque spiritus malignos, qui ad perditionem animarum pervagantur in mundo, divina virtute in infernum detrude. Amen

Oh Does it ever smack as a hate crime. Until people insist these hate crimes are prosecuted as such, (as much as I don't believe in the laws) they will continue. We need to start beating them at their own games.

If this were a mosque, it would be. But in this world, today, even a Menorah is not left alone by these like minded people.

Absolutely no respect for anyone, or anything else, other than themselves. Offended by the very fact that someone else with a different value system than theirs, even draws air.

Vandalize a mosque in like manner and listen to the howls of outrage from the "tolerance" community.

"S" as in Soros. "S" as in Senator. I wonder what the third "S" may stand for.

Synergy , perhaps?

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host - by the Divine Power of God - cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits, who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Are you from there?

Born & raised. Moved around the country quite a bit after college, but I'm back now. I think I'll go get two with mustard right now. The secret on a Sunday is to wait until its WAY late in the afternoon. By then the line has usually died down.

Actually, the whole idea from the beginning seems to have been a cynical effort to make a few bucks: Manhattan's Slasher-Santa Display for Sale. You would have heard about it, but there is A LEAST one mod here who hates my guts (in fairness, there is probably more than one).

Whatever precipitated your anti-clericalism may be entirely justified. However, remember that their actions, are between them and God----- and so are yours.

I am a fan of Clemenza's but the tiny percentage of priests actually involved suggests that the MSM campaign against the Catholic church has won him over. The overwhelming majority of priests are among the best examples of humanity, compassion and selflessness that I know.

If desecration of symbols is viewed a political statement (which is suspect it was for these individuals), such an act against one of the infant Jesus would be the ultimate "hate crime."

I'm also confused as to the nature of the mysterious three "S's"

My anti-clericalism stems NOT from the scandals. Actually, I have less of a problem with many of the parish priests. Instead, it stems from the way the hierarchy has been more interested in wielding and maintaining power at the expense of bringing folks to Christ. For too long, the Catholic Church has placed more emphasis on buildings, land, and numbers at the expense of the gospel. The POLITICIANS from Rome to Roanoke are what give the Church a bad name.

Still sounds like you're believing the hype. For every currupt politician within the Church's upper heirarchy there are hundreds of true believers doing Go's work. Benedict did not suddenly materialize on John Paul's death, and throughout it all, the Church has remained the most important charitable institution on the planet.

I'm not saying that there aren't good people in the hierarchy. My personal experiences have just been different from yours I guess.

Consider also who has a vested interest in putting the Church in as bad a light as possible, and why.

As I posted earlier, their actions are between them and God----- and so are ours.

Best to remember we are all beset with human frailities and we are all capable of committing the most heinous of crimes, even though we know better.

I sometimes think that is the best proof that there is a God---because of human temptation and the choice of whether to give into it or not.

We will have to answer for our own actions, not for what these individual priests did.

Nobody is going to judge us by another person's actions.....only our own.

Christophobes make me sick. Nobody wants you to join the faith unless you wish to do so. If you don't like being surrounded by Christians, just move.

Nevertheless, the arrogance of many in the Church of Rome, is exceeded only by that of the secular left.
