I did that too though the Pearl Buck Foundation. Funny thing my Thai wife at that time really got upset with me for doing so.
I understand...my friends who started this orphanage had a long process to go through before the Thai government would approve them. One thing was no adoptions to take out of the country. It makes the government lose face if the world thinks they can't take care of their own. They earned the respect of the government in time, though.
I would love to go back over there again some day....though I hate that looooong flight over there.
