It sure does. We visited Nan while I was there. Stayed in a home with no running water---love taking a shower with a barrel and ladle (really)--and no one spoke English. Thank goodness my friends (missionaries) were very proficient in the language.

I've taken lots of klong jar showers. Believe it or not that water can feel real cold when you've become fully acclimated.

I understand...my friends who started this orphanage had a long process to go through before the Thai government would approve them. One thing was no adoptions to take out of the country. It makes the government lose face if the world thinks they can't take care of their own. They earned the respect of the government in time, though.
I would love to go back over there again some day....though I hate that looooong flight over there.

I'm home, safe and sound. Worked, actually worked, late. Work tomorrow too. New system goes live Monday, and we all aren't sure how it works. LOL! Gonna be OJT. The more we can get ahead Saturday, I heard someone say we might not have to be there til midnight Monday.

P.S.
Man Sarge, we are in a deep freeze up here..
10 degrees and the wind is howling
I'd put the wind chill factor at 5 or 10 below zero..
Brrr!!!
Ya sure you don't want some LLBean winter gear?
I know it's cold there too
Let me know, Good Sir!
I will mail it post haste!

So glad you liked it ((Old Sarge))!
I'm going to email it to my son. I think it will bring back some memories for him. When he showed up at my front door, home from the first Gulf War, he had his bags and all my letters with him.
I also downloaded the zipped windows media version of the same video. It's a much smaller size file and the video seems to be the same quality...just the sound seems a bit lower.

Actually the correct term would be ohng nhaam which means a large clay jar or cistern for storing water.
Klong jar was the GI slang for it.
