Indianapolis -- A General Motors program that allows Hispanics, blacks or lesbians but not Christians to organize in employee groups is not committing religious discrimination, a federal court ruled.
GM's Affinity Group diversity program does not discriminate against Christians because it treats all religions equally, the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in Chicago ruled Thursday.
The court upheld a decision by a federal judge in Indianapolis, where the original lawsuit was filed by John Moranski, a born-again Christian who works at GM's Allison Transmission plant in Indianapolis.
Moranski applied in December 2002 to start an interdenominational Christian employees group as part of the diversity program, according to court documents.
GM rejected the application because program guidelines do not allow Affinity Groups to promote religious positions, the documents state. Moranski filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and then filed a federal lawsuit claiming that the denial constituted illegal religious discrimination.

Just apply to start the GM chapter of White Pride Worldwide. See what they say about that.
They'd say that the pride is premature at least, in view of the successful competition from the Japanese.
GM will only be an asterisk one year from now. So goes GM, so goes the country. Good grief, we're in trouble.
I would love to see GM's definition of "hispanic."
If Caucasian is defined as "peoples having origins in Europe," one must ask if Spain has broken off from Europe.
"Hispanic" can only be defined as "people speaking Spanish (and refusing to learn English)." Spanish speaking people come from every racial grouping. There is no shared culture. I presume that the Portugese are "hispanic," but are the Filipinos, with their racial background?
Bottom line: the "hispanic" classification is a joke, but honored by GM, yet Christianity, which can prove common roots, is not.
I wonder what they would do if a group of "hispanics" wanted to form a Hispanic-Christion group?
I know John Moranski personally, he is a fine Christian man who has sacrificed career opportunities to pursue this law case for Christian principles. Please pray for John and his family.
GM can't go bankrupt quickly enough for me.
Just another reason to not buy a crappy GM car.
I'd call it Straight White Pride Worldwide just to avoid any embarrasing misunderstandings......
I do have aproblem with the company - on the brink of bankruptcy - having a GM corporate diversity spokeswoman .
I'm sure that position adds alot to the bottom line.
Why don't we all tell GM how we feel at

No one should be happy about the demise of GM
Are you A Union member of GM?...if you are you should already know my next statement!...reap what you sow...
Union membership is mandatory and doesn't mean I endorse or condone or approve of any Union actions and policies or ever voted "Yes" in any contract in fact I am quite anti-Union
Your ignorance of the reality of many GM workers is appalling
As a long-term former employee of Digital Equipment Corporation who lost almost everything when DEC was broken-up by the BOD under that bastard Palmer (he was paid $52M for his efforts), I know what it's like. But the computer industry is now stronger for it. DEC lagged behind in the 1980s and when it finally got a bullet to the back of its head it was simply draining resources from better places.
Done. Can't wait for their reply.
