Dear XXXXXX,
As we close the year 2005, with war still raging in Iraq and lies still emanating from the White House, let's send out some positive vibes for the new year. In the spirit of planting our own "field of dreams"
Imagine if, in 2006:
Every citizen against the war decides to attend a peace vigil.
Every mother shows up at a recruiter's office and says, "NOT MY CHILD!"
Every father is brave enough to tell his son "Killing is NOT manly."
Every teacher teaches conflict resolution to her students.
Every Christian demands that our government practice the Commandment: THOU SHALL NOT KILL.
Every anti-war voter refuses to give money, support or votes to pro-war candidates.
Every student who considers joining the military to pay rising college costs instead joins with other students to demand affordable education.
Every soldier who has doubts about the mission in Iraq refuses to fight.
Every congressperson walks, cycles or takes public transportation to work.
Every American buying a new car chooses a hybrid or biodiesel.
Every family member of a fallen soldier joins Cindy Sheehan in saying "Honor our sacrifices; stop the killing."
Every living veteran, those who best know the agony of war, converges on Washington to demand a Department of Peace.
Every woman who wants to see a more peaceful world connects with like-minded women of all ages, races, religions and nationalities to demand an end to war. * Every citizen who feels lied to about the reasons for invading Iraq demands that George Bush be impeached.
Maybe, together, we could end the occupation of Iraq in the new year and make it harder for future leaders to drag us into unjust wars. When we sow seeds of peace, a whole field of dreams can blossom.
From your sisters at CODEPINK, we wish you a joyful holiday season and look forward to working together in 2006 to make our dreams come true.
Dana, Farida, Gael, Jen, Jodie, Medea, Nancy, Rae, Sam & Tiffany
P.S. Please consider making a year-end contribution to CODEPINK. This year, your entire donation will be tax-deductible-so the more you give, the less money you are contributing to the Pentagon's war machine. Click here to donate on-line, or send your tax-deductible donation to CODEPINK, 2010 Linden Ave, Venice, CA, 90291.
* In January, CODEPINK, with 200 prominent women from around the world, will launch a new and exciting "Women Say No to War" campaign. For a preview and to sign the Urgent Call for Peace, see www.womensaynotowar.org.
Know your enemy!
It is difficult to imagine someone being that stupid and still able operate a computer......
Notice that there was no call for a reduction in violence from the opponents to U.S. strategy! No call for the "insurgents" to put down their arms. No call for a reduction in kidnapping . No call for a reduction in bombing of civilians. No call for fewer beheadings.
These people are very transparent!
But of course we wouldn't want to place any burdens on Islamofascists, would we?
The prone position is patriotic!
They forgot one:
Every Code Pinko member will give money to "benefit" the "Freedom Fighters" in Iraq and Afganistan.
This has got to be joke...if it is an actual release it has to be from the most stupid, moron imaginable!
Take the line of mothers saying "not my son to military recruiters"....OK, who do you want in the military?
Do you want to disband our military and leave the United States defenseless? If you do, how fast would we be taken over? And then, who will be the first people murdered??? Why You and your son of course.
So in essence, the author, by hating the U.S. Military, is requesting a death sentence to themselves and their families.
What complete morons!
Imagine if, in 2006:
Every citizen against the war decides to visit Iraq to convince terrorists to stop.
Every mother shows up at an abortion clinic and says, "NOT HER CHILD!"
Every father is brave enough to tell his son "Gay is NOT manly."
Every teacher teaches the U.S. Constitution to her students.
Every Christian demands that our government practice the 1st Amendment.
Every anti-war voter gives additional money to help the deficit.
Every student who considers joining the military to pay rising college costs also joins with other students to demand the end of political discrimination on campus.
Every soldier who has doubts about the mission in Iraq defects to Canada.
Every liberal, leftist and Democrat walks, cycles or takes public transportation to work.
Every liberal leftist or Democrat buying a new car chooses a hybrid or biodiesel.
Every family member of a fallen soldier joins real Americans in saying "Honor our sacrifices to stop the evil of terrorism."
Every living veteran, those who best know the agony of war, converges on Washington to demand deportation of leakers and traitors.
Every woman who wants to see a more peaceful world connects with like-minded women of all ages, races, religions and nationalities to end to abortion.
* Every citizen who feels lied to about George Bush demands that leakers and traitors be deported.
This is good stuff!
Your list is GREAT!! You forgot one however...
Every DMV official is brave enough to tell Sen. Ted Kennedy "Not on my watch!" when he applies for his drivers license.
Yeah, it is MUCH more "manly" to submit quietly to your oppressors or attackers, than to kill them or to die trying...
< /sarcasm >
OK, since you brought up the swimmer, here's the email I got from him today.
Dear XXXXXX,
What a year it has been. As we get ready now to kick off 2006, I want to thank you for being part of the TedKennedy.com community.
When the campaign team and I first discussed the potential of an online advocacy program earlier this year, we had no idea how large and influential this community would become. In the few months since our first email, its numbers have soared from less than 10,000 to more than 150,000.
The reason is clear. We tackle important problems facing our nation, and do our best to raise awareness among our fellow citizens and create change.
We've accomplished quite a lot -- but as we move into the election year, we must do even more. The nation is ready for change, and needs a Democratic majority in Congress that will answer to the people rather than corporate interests. Our community has already shown broad-based support in action, but greater resources will be needed to prevail. Imagine the possibilities if all 150,000 supporters each gave $25. That may be a high bar, but getting there starts with you:

Together, we will build on our track record of success.
Remember William Myers? In April and May our community warned thousands of people about the Administration's ideological nomination to the federal court, and massive public pressure prevented this extreme nominee from becoming a federal judge.
Remember the Downing Street Memos? Our community sounded the alarm last summer about the Administration's handling of pre-war intelligence as soon as these deeply troubling documents surfaced. Together, we spread news of the DSM to thousands -- and many of them joined us in demanding answers from the Administration about its conduct on the war in Iraq and its plan for success there.
But we didn't stop there. More than 70,000 people have signed a powerful petition demanding that the White House release critical documents needed by the current Senate investigation into pre-war intelligence.
Our constant activism fuels the growth and power of our community -- and brings valuable attention to issues that matter a great deal to our country. But this activity takes resources. You can make 2006 even more successful by contributing to our effort.

With 2006 arriving, every day before the election must be an opportunity to advance our views, counter right-wing resistance, and pave the way to victory for my campaign and for hard-working Democratic candidates across the country.
It's not going to be easy. The Republican leadership constantly resists us and counters the truth with its devious spin. These attacks will only grow louder.
Despite public outrage, the Administration continues to smear its critics and distort the facts. These desperate tactics will only get worse, because they know we won't accept anything less than the truth.
There has never been a more important time to hold the Administration accountable to the truth. A fraudulent war continues to rage in Iraq. Samuel Alito's nomination to the Supreme Court will be considered by the Senate in the coming weeks. The President's secret domestic espionage has raised serious new questions about the legality of his actions.
We laid an important foundation in 2005 -- and we will build on it in 2006. The funds we raise now will determine the scope and strength of our activism. Make your contribution here:

In the Senate chamber or on the campaign trail, this community will walk with me every step of the way. Together we will continue to ask the questions, demand the answers, and bring the truth to our fellow Americans.
With thanks and appreciation for all that you do, and best wishes to you in the New Year,
Sincerely,
Senator Edward Kennedy
