That's an explosive story. Is Lamberth still chief judge in the FISA court?

The Left is in pure panic mode today. They didnt think the Administration had the balls. Now, a few people are going to go to jail, and notice will be served to the rest of these traitors that leaking has consequences.

Like I said before, they already know who did it, and are probably just cleaning up the investigation before indictments are announced. The Libs will be screaming bloody murder this Sunday, saying its just a distraction and other nonsense. They cant escape, we've got the bastards.

The dems will circle the wagons, the press will cover them and turn it all back on Bush

Come on Freepers, this is an issue we should win on every time. Let's not let them turn this back on us, even though that's exactly what they will try to do.

I personally won't rest until we see at minimum a public, detailed report on these charges.

"The dems will circle the wagons, the press will cover them and turn it all back on Bush."

I disagree with your take on this, because this is not a winning issue for most Dem politicians. Sure, the crazed San Francisco lefties will attack Bush for the investigation of this leak, but Dem congressmen in New Jersey, New York and in the midwest won't say much about this investigation. They will completely avoid this issue or give the investigation some mild support. Unbiased polls show strong support for NSA surveillance of terrorism suspects, and smart politicians pay attention to unbiased polls.

Relax, we wont lose this one. This investigation probably started the day the Administration asked the Times not to run with the article, which is over a year ago.

Bush kept silent through all the crap spewing from the media, who probably thought nothing would happen when they ran with the article, since they knew nothing of the leak investigation.

You don't make this kind of announcement BEFORE the investigation, that would give the guilty a chance to cover themselves. You make the announcement when you've got someone dead to rights, and you drag them in to see if they want to talk and name more names before you drop the hammer on them.

The list of the people privy to the leaked info should be pretty short.

Anyone who does not have a security clearance on a matter is pretty much free to speculate. The only way to keep someone from blabbing is to give him the level of security and brief him on the matter. But, someone somewhere seems to have got the info, and that person might have not had the proper clearance. This is possible when those with clearance do not exercise their obligations, especially by insufficiently guarding classified documents, and in this case they await the knock on the door.

"The leakers have compromised national security and should be brought to justice."

You're right, we are at war...compromising national security's justice is before a firing squad.

I wonder if we'll be 'at war' when a Democrat does this and if the ardent cheerleaders of government intrusion will be as supportive for reporting on questionable, at best, power grabs.
