I can trade insults with anyone, but perhaps you should learn to read before you start insulting other people .... on the chance that you aren't totally blind ... my post 146 ...

"OK I'll take the other side:

The Constitution is the highest law of the land. The President takes an oath "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." Violating a citizen's civil rights is a felony ...the Fourth Amendment says:

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Some things need to be reported ... this is one. Using Executive Power to hide criminal offenses is against everything this country stands for ... in 2009 when President Hitlery Clinton has the FBI Mainframes moved to the White House ... and starts blackmailing everyone .... don't complain!"

Now my point:

While I don't like the NYTs, and the timing of their article sucked, they are correct on this issue. The President's most important job is NOT protecting the United States from attack .... it is what he SWORE to do ... PRESERVE, PROTECT, AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES.

Civil Rights are the cornerstone of the United States ... Is it worth violating (and committing a felony) civil rights? I believe it is a balancing act .... the answer is sometimes yes and sometimes no .... President Bush has done just OK on the WOT. It is time to start reclaiming our civil rights and start restricting the Federal Government ....

NAME ONE CASE that a US Citizen has had his RIGHTS violated.....without being awarded a huge cash settlement.....Name one.

The last one i can truely remember is the security guy who was blamed for the Atlanta Bombings.

Oops....maybe we should all forget WACO and their civil rights. Tanks on US Soil killing Children is much worse than Wire Tapping. get a grip.

let me re-phrase this.....during Bush's Term, if memory serves me right?......wasn't that during Clinton and Reno's Watch.

eveyone tries to mix apples and oranges when talking about civil rights and terrorist activities. Just look how every terrorist we have in custody, and their media mouth pieces are using all the MOUTH PIECES here in the US as their excuse to claim being violated. The are even asking for reviews based on this stuff that is being carried to far.

Terrorists (people trying to kill us) don't have civil rights, unless they are American citizens, and then they have the right to be HUNG. In a civil manner, of course.

Yes that was during Clinton and Reno's Watch. An American killed by the FBI while being questioned about OKC bombing ... and he was the wrong guy ... along with the cover up by the government that followed.

It's very clear to me that in 2001 to 2003 we were very hard on enemy combatants that were captured. We killed several and I have a very good idea about how they were treated. It's also very clear that that they are now being treated with kid gloves. If they are non-citizens then I don't care. As far as I am concerned that's war/life. The National Emergency declared by Bush in September 2001 expires within a year. I guess he will just keep extending it. I don't trust any government with my freedom and at some point it has to stop. I say now is the time.

"I believe it comes from the French military style of walking backwards with their hands in the air..."

I may be wrong, but I believe the French prefer to turn around and run as fast as possible when it comes to military situations.

I agree not may be getting close to the time.....but the TIME should never stop until "OUR TROOPS" are still be killed due to these idiots, and until "ALL PLOTTERS" against american's abroad and on the homeland are brought to justice, NOT APPEASED to by showing weakness, and/or giving $$ aid to.
If i have not forgotten we still have regimes, that aid such people in Syria and in IRAN.

This is good news. The leakers have compromised national security and should be brought to justice.

Well, they suspended Kobe for 2 games -- what more do you want?

You are correct about our troops still being in harms way and yes we still have to take out Iran. My brother is on his second tour in Afghanistan as a NG medevac pilot, it's clear that there will be a third tour when Bush extends the National Emergency in September 2006. I'm also sure that the NG will be gutted when that happens. Stop Loss or no Stop Loss. Iran has always been the key and until we change that government, we are only fooling ourselves with this WOT.

YES and all this complaining about the WOT and the wiretapping, is doing nothing but tying his/our hands.

It's much more important that this be pursued for national security purposes, but as a side issue it will be fun seeing how the press handles this if someone is actually causht. (Let's say, just for example, a U.S. Senator whose name rhymes with, oh, arbitrarily, "ockefeller".)

Having gone into public fits of APOPLEXY, both in Whitehouse press briefings and on editorial pages across the nation, in demanding that the Plame leakers be identified, fired and prosecuted; they will suddenly have to completely shift their position to defend the leakers in this case.

Sounds like treason to me. In a time of war that could mean the death penalty.
