Protesters decry Lipinski's vote on immigration bill

Hispanic community activists gathered Wednesday in front of the office of U.S. Rep. Daniel Lipinski (D-Ill.) on the Southwest Side to protest his vote for a bill that would impose stricter regulations on undocumented immigrants and make illegal entry into the country a criminal act.

The group of about two dozen protesters also announced the formation of the Committee for the Progress of the 3rd Congressional District, a set of business and community leaders who intend to find a candidate to run against Lipinski in 2008.

"The Mexican community is incensed by his voting in the bill," said Juan Salgado, director of the non-profit Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights. "Immigration is one of the main reasons Chicago continues to be prosperous ... This is just not sensible."

House Bill 4437--introduced by Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner Jr. (R-Wis.) and titled the Border Protection, Anti-Terrorism and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005--would make illegal entry, formerly a civil violation, a felony. It also would make helping and transporting illegal immigrants already in the country a crime.

Let him be incensed when he and his pals are DEPORTED back to Mejico.

"Immigration is one of the main reasons Chicago continues to be prosperous ... This is just not sensible."

Ayudame! Chicago? Prosperous? Well it seems pretty sensible to me to send back people who BREAK THE LAW by coming here illegally.

It is good to see that even some Democrats understand we cannot accept the entire third world here.

What part of United States Law do you river rats not understand?!?You are here illegally; ergo, you are criminals. And blow your human rights whining out your asses with the bean burrito gas. The fact that your countries are Third World septic tanks is a direct product of your inability to govern yourselves. Do not presume that WE have any sort of moral, cultural, or political desire or obligation to feed you, burp you, or change your diapers. Parasites are not, nor ever shall be, treated like equals.

"The Mexican community is incensed by his voting in the bill"

Excuse me, Juan… but in this country we are Americans, and we choose to protect our borders. Screw the Mexican community. If you want a “Mexican community” there is a country to our south that fits the bill. The bus leaves in 10 minutes. Adios.

and of course this is WHY we need this bill...so illegal immigrants don't get so powerful that they can stop any legislation they want (just by their sheer numbers) that actual americans WANT!!
