(Brockton, MA) Supporters of gay marriage in Massachusetts have posted all 123,356 names and addresses of those who signed a petition to reverse legalized same-sex marriage throughout the state on a well known gay rights Web site. Employees and volunteers posted the names on Knowthyneighbor.org. The database is searchable by first name, last name, home town, and ZIP code and offers visitors a 'fraud affidavit" to use 'if your name is listed and you believe you were a victim of petition fraud."
Supporters of a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage in Massachusetts shattered a 20-year-old record for the most certified signatures ever gathered in support of a proposed ballot question.
The proposed amendment is intended to overrule a Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision that legalized same-sex "marriage" in May 2004. An estimated 6,500 gay and lesbian couples have since married in the state.
If approved by voters, the amendment would require the state to define marriage "only as the union of one man and one woman." This would prohibit gay "marriage" after 2008, but would not affect established homosexual marriages.
"The people have not just spoken, they have shouted to let the people vote on the definition of marriage," Kristian Mineau, president of the Massachusetts Family Institute, which spearheaded the signature drive, told the Boston Globe.
As of press time Tuesday, no formal complaints had been filed against Knowthyneighbor.org.
Girl???
I proudly signed before Mass several weeks ago.
6,500 phony "marriages."
Thanks for that information. I'd be very surprised if their volunteers came all of the way out the where I live, but if they're game let them "visit".
Don't have a hissy fit.
'Kristalnacht' Massachusetts style. Next the night of the long knives. Then make gay marriage opponents wear a Scarlet Letter. The evil empire is alive and well in Mass.
The easy way to put an end to this stupidity is to file as many false "fraud affadivits" as possible through their site.
It's a common tactic. I'm convinced that one of the reasons why Rick Santorum is getting bad press, mostly on issues unrelated to homosexuality, is because he expressed skepticism of the Lawrence decision.
They tried to hide behind a PO box and a fax machine that didn't register on a phone search. Tsk tsk.
Yeah...it's like some Homosexual hack just pulled an Aldrich Ames on COnservative Massachussetts Citizens.
Actually, I think they are looking for as many fraud incidents as possible. In the liberal mind there is just no way so many people could be in favor of morality.
The turd burlars know they will lose so they're pitching a hissy fit.
"This violates the unwritten rule of challenge the signature, not the signer. "
I was having a little fun with the way the MSM (legitimately) goes after conservatives who post personal information about others - abortion doctors and judges come to mind - and then making the analogy that to be outed as "straight" in MA could be a career buster, or worse.
But you do have an excellent point. This is clearly an intimidation tactic by people who, I guess, have a real problem with democracy.
They're gettin' down and dirty!
How did they get the list in the first place?
I would imagine that the Attorney General, Tom Riley, would be interested in this. He is running for Governor!!!
Is it too late to sign the petition?
Sounds like good company to be in.
Is it too late for me to sign a petition? Damn - I'm not a Mass. resident.
GMTA.
Maybe we could ask to be added to the list.
Darn - what do I need to do to get my name on their list?
Or complain that you weren't listed.
