I don't think Americans will go for it. I believe this stupid move will only hurt the DIMS more...
If the Libs push the impeachment issue because the President is trying to protect the American Public, it will backfire on them, bigtime.
As Rusher points out, it would take only one demonrat in congress to offer a motion to impeach, so unless there's some plan afoot to capture every seat in congress, the Republicans had better put their thinking caps on...if they can find them after all this time.
Bring it on. Republicans protect you, Democrats protect terrorists. Its that simple.
If the Libs push the impeachment issue because the President is trying to protect the American Public, it will backfire on them, bigtime. If it doesn't backfire on them, or if we fail to defend the President with every fiber of our being, we all deserve whatever major terrorist attack we get.
This is just not going to work. Clinton came off as a sap, an idiot just trying to cover up a ham-handed affair that embarrassed the hell out of him. In the case of Bush, this will look like a president trying too hard to protect the country. If an impeachment resolution passes, Look for the dems to lose in 2008 by a staggering margin. They already trail by a 10 point minimum on every national security issue. Can you imagine what the polls would read if they impeached the "security president"?
"American politics are not only arguably uglier than they have ever been before,"
Demcocrats are uglier then they ever have been before.
And they are taking the party over the cliff because of it.
Although it only takes one person to introduce a motion to impeach, it will never come to a vote unless Dems are in charge. And Dems aren't going to win back the House so the question is moot.
Guess WND hasn't been reading the polls. Democrats are complete poll whores and when they see 70% of Americans, including 51% of DEMOCRATS, agree with Bush about NSA and Terrorist wiretaps, that 60% of Americans said they would be LESS likely to vote for anyone running on Impeaching Bush.
Almost thought that said Sen. Charles Schumer and got my hopes up.
Whatever.
No one ever claimed that Bill Clinton stole the election. We just pointed out that he did not have a majority support. George W. Bush beat EVERY "anybody but Bush" candidate combined in 2004. The press TWICE denied him an election night victory speech.
I don't recall the media coverage of those who protested Bill Clinton's wars. Some on the left claimed they were vocal critics of Bosnia, Somalia, etc.. Why didn't their protests lead the news? Where were the body counts?
The barking moonbats have little in common with the critics of Clinton.
And now his shrew wife wants ANOTHER 4 (8?) years as co-president (which means another unconstitutional 4-8 years for Bill Clinton as un-elected but self-described "co-president").
Since the Democrats aren't going to retake the House, this whole kerfuffle will be moot anyway.
Yup.
The American public elected this man handily for two terms, and the American public will simply not tolerate a very nasty attempt at impeachment of a popular President who is trying to keep us from being attacked.
I'd really like to see them try it. Nothing, but nothing, will expose these people like doing something stupid like trying to impeach Bush. There's too many Bloggers, radio talk shows...too many for them to slip a "Nixon" through.
Yup....I'd enjoy seeing them try, even if they DO re-gain the House.
As mentioned on another thread - President Cheney would have a great chance to win re-election in '08 as an incumbent.
I didn't hate Bill Clinton. I have a life.
Demcocrats are uglier then they ever have been before.
And they are taking the party country over the cliff because of it
"Clinton came off as a sap, an idiot just trying to cover up a ham-handed affair that embarrassed the hell out of him."
Not according to the polls. The farther along the impeachment proceedings went, the higher his approval ratings. His peak of 73% (if I recall correctly) was at the height of it. I wasn't in that 73%, but that doesn't mean I should pretend the polls didn't exist.
If Bush is impeached, the same thing will happen. People will rally round the President, Democrats will rightly be demonized as partisan hacks who will do anything to win, and they'll probably lose ground as a result.
Of course, as I mentioned, the point is moot because Dems won't win the House.
