It caused HIM a lot of trouble? What a shelfish boob. I look forward to the trial, when Russert, Cooper, et al have to take the stand.

I probably gave up caring what Novak thinks about anything many years ago. Screw the gutless old fart.

From that same interview linked on your post #15:
----------
BLITZER: Here's what you said the other day, at least according to the "Raleigh News & Observer," December 14, 2005: "I'm confident the president knows who the source is. I'd be amazed if he doesn't. So I say don't bug me, don't bug 'Washington Post' reporter Bob Woodward, bug the president as to whether he should reveal who the source is." You were talking about your initial source for this story, is that right?
NOVAK: I was giving a speech, as I do every couple of years, to a conservative think tank called "The John Locke Foundation" in Raleigh.
And I've spoken there for years. And I've said a lot of outrageous things to them, and it never gets in the paper. I'd made the bum reporter's mistake. I didn't think there would be any reporters there.
So that was a stupid thing for me to say. I was just kind of -- it wasn't in the speech, it was in the -- I had given a speech for about 40 minute. We had about ten minutes of Q&A, and that was the last question. It's always the last question that does you in. That was a dumb thing to say.
BLITZER: Was it dumb to say it, or was it not true? Do you believe the president knows who your source is?
NOVAK: It was dumb to say it.
BLITZER: But you do believe the president...
NOVAK: I'm not going to say. I thought it was an off-the-record operation. And I really don't want to go any further into it. I'm embarrassed that it appeared in print. I thought it was just in a private setting, so I don't want to go further into it.
---------------
Geesh, this "I thought it was a private setting" line from public figures -- after they make stupid remarks in a public speech -- is beginning to sound a lot like "the dog ate my homework."

Boy, that explanation really cinches it for me that the naughty, nasty, Bush administration really went out of their way to discredit someone, probably, who was that again? Oh, somebody Flame, yeah, that's the ticket....real devastating plan, wasn't it? Zzzzzzzz.......

Novak should have asked Wolf if he knew who Plame was prior to Novak's column.

I just love the fact that on July 14th, Wolf "waved Joe over from his porch to see Novak's article and that's how Joe FIRST found out about the article".
Now add that a friend of Wilson's had approached Novak on July 8th...on the street, asked Novak about Joe and reported TO Wilson that Novak knew his wife worked at the CIA.
Then add in that Joe actually talked to Novak on the 10th and 11th (the same days that Cooper called Rove and Libby). All Joe had to do was tell Valerie and her bosses could have stopped it if her cover would be jeopardized.
Don't tell me that Wilson called Novak "on his own" without discussing it with his attorney.
By the way, July 6th was the first week that Cooper was the White House Correspondent.
Boy, did he luck out....Story of the year, court case against a Bush biggie.
Mandy Grunwald, his wife, who is also best friend of Hillary, her media manager and Bubba's ex campaign manager must be really proud of her hubbie....a doofus making good.
Of course, Mandy and Hillary were in Germany on the day of Joe's article...July 6th.

I'm tired of the old SOB.
Evidently the Arab partners at FNC wanted Novak in their stable.
The more they turn away from America and towards our enemies, the less I bother to watch.

The entire Plame scam was and is a concoction of Joe Wilson and some of his cohorts to save Wilson's butt and screw the Bush Administration. And that's a fact.
To: OldFriend
Well if they leave their audience, their audience will leave them.
I was out of cable service (for eight days!) and had to watch either NBC or CBS for news. I don't think Fox news could ever get that bad. Mrs. Hun had to keep me from shooting the TV set several times!!!

The thing is that some folks are saying that by writing his article for the NYSlimes, Wilson divulged his classified report.
On the contrary, the report he submitted to the CIA pretty much confirmed that Saddam Hussein was attempting to purchase uranium.
This entire case is so twisted and illogical it defines any explanation at all.

I wonder if a complete transcript of the interview is also available.
The problem with the "news" is the frequency with which people must actually read the source materials in order to discover what really happened. It is embarrassing.
