TIME Inc. CEO Ann Moore is under pressure to come up with $100 million in cost savings next year, when more than one company insider expects a new bloodbath.
One source said the new cuts could translate into 400 more job cuts early in 2006 a number that accounts for 3 percent of the unit's 13,200-person workforce.
Earlier this month, Moore announced 105 positions would be eliminated, including top executives across the publishing empire and six bureau chiefs at Time magazine.
On the day of the announcement Moore pointedly would not tell senior staffers if the cuts were a one-time event.
That made jittery staffers even more nervous. And since top executives were cut this time, most expected the next round to go deep into middle management and editorial positions at places such as Fortune, Sports Illustrated and other magazines hard hit by the advertising slump, particularly from automakers.

Another one bites the dust.
So sad that the presstitutes are not enjoying the best economy in 20 years. Not....
They might be able to turn this around if they close the
Agenda, Bias, DNC liason, Propaganda and Spin desks.
... oh, you say that would lay off everyone? Oops.
First off, Time, fire all your "iditors" (idiot editors), then your "journalists" and "reporters". Save the people who actually manufacture and produce the ragazine. Then hire people with one or 2 year's experience writing for a small, unknown newspaper. Make sure no political bent of either side gets into the reports, then you can call yourself a news magazine and people will purchase it.
They'd be better off if they disconnected the DNC fax line and actually printed the story and let us decide.
Time magazine has no use in our new world as the new media has made weekly's irrelevent and "old" news.
Here's a suggestion - STOP PUBLISHING YER LYING RAG!!!!
Happy news, makes my day.
Your #5 speaks for me.
Fire em all, starting with Evan Thomas and Matt Cooper.
NO wonder the Economy looks so bad to Presstitutes....THEIR personal ECONOMIES are in the TANK!!! Too bad, so sad.
It appears that more and more NYT subscribers are realizing that it's cheaper to subscribe to the free DNC email list and they can get the NYT stories much sooner.
HAHA!!
Oh, oh...I have an idea! The Times should print a lot less papers every day. That will save a ton of money, and help the environment by saving paper and trees too!
Haven't read this rag in years -- not even in the doctor's office! RIP, Old-TIMEr!!
They could make money if they ran actual news stories rather then hit pieces on Bush, Republicans, conservatives, Christians, our troops, America etc...
We've an abundant source of opinion right now, real journalism absent agenda and bias would sell. Just the Facts. All the facts, not cherry picked.
They won't do it but someone could make a mint off a 'Just the Facts' printing if it lived up to its name.
Sinking liberal MSM. Oh happy day!
