Some Conservatives Return to Old Argument (Move America Forward on Iraq WMD)

Some Conservatives Return to Old Argument Outside Advocacy Group Aims To Rally Support by Backing Bush's Initial Claims on Iraq By YOCHI J. DREAZEN and JOHN D. MCKINNON Staff Reporters of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL December 28, 2005; Page A4

WASHINGTON -- The television commercials are attention-grabbing: Newly found Iraqi documents show that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction, including anthrax and mustard gas, and had "extensive ties" to al Qaeda. The discoveries are being covered up by those "willing to undermine support for the war on terrorism to selfishly advance their shameless political ambitions."

The hard-hitting spots are part of a recent public-relations barrage aimed at reversing a decline in public support for President Bush's handling of Iraq. But these advertisements aren't paid for by the Republican National Committee or other established White House allies. Instead, they are sponsored by Move America Forward, a media-savvy outside advocacy group that has become one of the loudest -- and most controversial -- voices in the Iraq debate.

While even Mr. Bush now publicly acknowledges the mistakes his administration made in judging the threat posed by Mr. Hussein, the organization is taking to the airwaves to insist that the White House was right all along.

Similar to Swift Boat Veterans for Truth -- the advocacy group that helped derail John Kerry's presidential campaign -- Move America Forward has magnified its reach by making small television and radio ad buys and then relying on cable- and local-television news outlets to give the commercials heavy coverage. Move America Forward has no discernible formal ties to the White House or the Republican National Committee, and the group says it operates independently from the Republican Party establishment. Still, the organization provides a clear benefit to the administration by spreading a pro-war message that goes beyond

Countering the propoganda with in-your-face approach like this one isn't that bad. But, I like President Bush's recent approach of defending it with a positive vision for the future of Iraq.

I recall Hussein's regime used to bastinado people to make them talk. Perhaps a dose of his own medicine would make him suddenly remember things about what he did with all those WMD. Truthful things.

We know he had 'em
We know he used 'em against Iran and the Kurds
We know he woulda if he coulda, against the US and Israel.

OK, Mr Hussein: so where are they now?

President Bush does not care about the popular opinion of the day, he is focused on the long term outcome that will best promote Liberty and Peace, while protecting all of us at the same time. All of the talking heads can pontificate all they want, History will be the judge of George W. Bush, and History will be kind to George W. Bush

Saddam's WMD Moved to Syria, An Israeli Says

By IRA STOLL - Staff Reporter of the Sun
December 15, 2005

http://www.nysun.com/article/24480

Saddam Hussein moved his chemical weapons to Syria six weeks before the war started, Israel's top general during Operation Iraqi Freedom says.

The assertion comes as President Bush said yesterday that much of the intelligence on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction was incorrect.

The Israeli officer, Lieutenant General Moshe Yaalon, asserted that Saddam spirited his chemical weapons out of the country on the eve of the war. "He transferred the chemical agents from Iraq to Syria," General Yaalon told The New York Sun over dinner in New York on Tuesday night. "No one went to Syria to find it."

From July 2002 to June 2005, when he retired, General Yaalon was chief of staff of the Israel Defense Force, the top job in the Israeli military, analogous to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the American military. He is now a military fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. He made similar, but more speculative, remarks in April 2004 that attracted little notice in America; at that time he was quoted as saying of the Iraqi weapons, "Perhaps they transferred them to another country, such as Syria."

That is NOT what the President said.

Of course not. But, don't forget that even WSJ reporters are liberals. Only their editors are conservative (well, except on immigration :-)).

For a lightweight, he's doing a darn good job sitting back and watching the lefties make utter fools of themselves. They all act like they're blindfolded and in a maze without an exit.

"propaganda"

The biggest cause of Bush's low ratings is basically due to ignorance. Most Americans are not hard-core leftists. But if the only info put before them is from the left-lib Big Media cabal, then they'll believe that. It should be a priority of all conservative groups to get the truth out there for the public. Most Americans do not dig very deep for their news. If all I read about Bush and conservatives was from the big lib rag in my area, I'd be a raging lefty too.

You are apparently listening to the left-lib Big Media cabal, if you believe the President's ratings are low.
