Mexican Congress Rallies Opposition to US Border Fence Plan
VOA News ^ | 27 December 2005

Posted on 12/27/2005 5:47:53 PM PST by SwinneySwitch

Mexican legislators are calling on their Latin American counterparts to join them in opposing a proposed barrier along the U.S.-Mexican border.

Heliodoro Diaz, who presides over Mexico's House of Representatives, has sent a written request to several regional legislatures as well as to parliaments in Spain and Portugal. Mr. Diaz says opposing the wall would be "an act of unity among Ibero-American legislatures."

The U.S. House of Representatives approved a measure earlier this month to construct security fencing along the U.S.-Mexican border in an effort to curb illegal border crossing. The measure would also reclassify illegal entry into the United States as a crime, instead of a civil offense, as at present.

Some information for this report provided by AP and Reuters.

"an act of unity among Ibero-American legislatures."

How about an act of unity opposing terrorists, slavers, and smugglers, Heliodoro?

The anti-national-security US Democrats will be shoulder to shoulder.

Let's let the U.S. Marines rally in the halls of Montezuma once again, depose their corrupt system of government, and establish a U.S. territory. Of course, build a wall or mine field on the border too.

It may be an act of unity, but it'd be an act of little (if any) consequence.

They really have a lot of nerve. They seem to think they have a voice in our government. Well, come to think of it, they do. Our President and lots of congress critters listen to them, and not us.

This is actually good, every time these arrogant creeps scream more of our fellow citizens get mad. When enough are mad, pro-open border politicians will be fired.

Like they say, "Good fences make good neighbors."

Here in NZ we have the best fence in the world: thousands of miles of sapphire-blue, shark-infested Pacific Ocean, with plenty of room on the bottom. Same would be true of Oz ("West Island") for that matter.

I bet you Yanks wish you had that luxury.

> Ibero-American legislatures.

Crikey! The thought of being scolded by Portugal and Spain must have y'all shaking in your boots! What if they try to Colonize you again??? Have you thought of that???!!!

Better not rile 'em too much! ;-)

The Duncan Hunter 15' fence, which "may" be built along 700 miles of the border.

OK, no fence. Instead, we're going to plant land mines in a two mile wide stretch. Now shut up, or the next move will be machine guns.

They know that by our building the fence their plans to REtake America and make it Mexicana will be severely inhibited. This is what doing nothing for years has nurtured and the FOX has been in the HEN house!

"an act of unity among Ibero-American legislatures."

When they say that, they are looking for a 20% transaction bribe. That's the Ibero-American way.

I wonder why they did not register their outrage with A14, the Modelo Beer Queen and wife of the US Ambassador; or for that matter with the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico - Tony Garza.

No statements from the Ambassador or from Dept of State.

That's OK. We have Raid for cockroaches, and a few congressmen are locating their spine. If these folks keep it up it will be fully funded for the entire border.

Thx for posting this. We need to put unrelenting pressure on the idiots in congress to put up a fence. I saw Chernoff on O'Reilly a week or so ago who assured Bill there is going to be a military presence on the border soon.

Anybody seen 'em yet?
