Why didn't Bush say this when he was justifying his actions? He seems to have no interest in defending himself.

He did defend himself. As usual the Whine All the Time Choir just tunes everything out so they can find the next thing to whine at Bush about

Because going around the court when it denied your requests isn't exactly a stirring defense. Regardless of how justified it may have been. We always must remember that it's Bush today, Hillary tomorrow.

If the Dems want to hang themselves, let them have all the rope they want!

The 2006 elections will be interesting, with plenty of ammo for those Republicans not afraid to fire back!

Because he isn't going to start shelling out classified information the way some have. Those who have done this should be thrown in jail with the animals they are defending.

Could be a classic Bush Rope-a-Dope. He knows that the dems will take the opposite side of the issue as a knee-jerk reaction (you can bet money on it if anyone's stupid enough to take the bet). He waits until enough dems are on the wrong side of the issue, then does a Monte Hall and reveals the surprise behind Door #3--the jackass.

He chooses to not be drawn into that, to the dismay of the left. Good for him. History usually does that anyway.

This will make things worse, not better.....because the media will spin it as Bush trying to circumvent the courts even more than they tried to spin the original story.

This would not have helped Bush to use this at all.

Bush has too many principles for his own good...unlike the last administration.

You are correct.
The administration does seem to rely heavily on us spreading the word.
I'm not quite sure how this story will be played out.
The good guys of course will say the activist judges on the court are crippling the administration from doing its job and I believe that argument will carry some weight.
The lib spinners will in turn say that the warrants he requested were unjustified and the cowboy who doesn't care about anyones civil liberties violated rights because he is a racist and doesn't like Muslims.
Of course the MSM will not dig into it unless it looks negative to the president which will in turn look negative to our nation, but they don't care about that.
Whatever it takes to protect no consequence abortions at will I guess.

Does the president work for himself?
