Did I miss anything?
Probably, but so did I.
Not in here.
"Out there" you may or may not have missed "the miracle that wasn't" at that mine in WV. Boy, what a terrible fiasco. UNOFFICIAL info got leaked to the waiting families and, before you know it, some of them are tumbling out the church doors to tell a starving press the great news that wasn't. Except that the press didn't verify where the families got the info. There were NO official communications from the company Command Center to corroborate the "12 alive" story, but it was so miraculous they went with it anyway.
For THREE HOURS.
THEN? TRUTH. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory came the awful truth. The miracle was, it turns out, for just one man. For him, at least, it's still a miracle. For eleven other families, however...
Well, how do you capture in words the magnitude of a letdown like that? It's got to be something like a 12 on the emotional Richter scale.
I was riveted. I followed the story all night long. I was, by turns, elated, joyous, relieved, surprised, shocked, dismayed, horrified and grieved. Now, I am tired, I have a whole day's work to do, and God's ear has a prolonged appointment with my mouth (I promise I won't get out of line, just some "Is it soup, yet?!" kind of stuff).
With that, I leave the balance of today's episode to you and our other regulars.
I missed over 500 of those.
