Nearly 12,000 Americans annually use guns to do just that, and the majority use handguns. Twelve thousand: that's comparable to the number of AIDS deaths each year in the United States.

Should we sue homosexuals for spreading AIDS? Can we do a class action suit against them for tainting the blood supply? Of course not, they don't have deep pockets. Should we sue auto manufacturers for all the deaths caused by careless/reckless drivers? How about suing those states that give them drivers licenses? How about alcohol makers? Gotta be some deep pockets there. What is the story on this mother? Must be something wrong with my semi-auto handguns. None of the them has ever killed anything, let alone a person. Neither have any of my long guns, except one. I have hunted pheasants with the Browning BPS pump shotgun. I didn't get many withit compared to how many I got with it's predecessor, a 20 pump marked by Sears. Yes Virginia, Sears not only sold guns, they had their own "house brand" of both guns and ammunition.

Actually, we know no such thing. Quite the opposite in fact. The historical record is quite clear, "More guns = Less Crime", and less deaths". Of the remaining deaths, the balance is changed, more bad guys less good guys. And that is a "Good Thing". IMHO at least.

Even if her figures are correct, so what? To me the only statistic that counts is the one that occurs in my home. I can either be the one in 160 that uses my gun for legitimate self defense, or I can be one of the 12,000 people killed by someone else's gun.
